If you’re looking for an open water diving course, or just doing some snorkeling, head on down to Epic Scuba. Robbie and his team have plenty of options on offer and provide a friendly and efficient service.

Don’t trust this shop or Robert Elmes, the owner of the shop. He treated me so horribly and left me hanging. I traveled from the US for a 4 day trip and my main goal was to dive and upgrade my certificate from scuba diver to open water diver. After a whole day of planning, attempting to communicate with them regarding completing my open water diver certificate, providing them my scuba diver certificate and quizzes, knowledge reviews report and anything that was asked or me, they left me hanging last minute. They offered me ridiculous pricing of $1000 for 5 dives and me agreeing to the price the owner sent me an email after 5 which other shops close, canceling my dives and simply saying we can’t accommodate you because your quizzes you took were older than 1 year. Although I retook all the quizzes that day again and printed and signed my report card and writing him multiple emails telling them how important it was for me to dive and I had done everything that was required and agreed to pay their ridiculous price he did not even care to respond to me or help me find a solution. You don’t just cancel on someone after 5 when other shops are closed and leave them hanging when someone has flew in from the US to dive and you’ve sent them invoice to pay and agreed to take them diving. Forget about business and just trying to make money for a second and be humane and care about people. At least respond to the emails a high paying customer has sent you or just don’t cancel on them after hours the night before an early dive. You’re in business to accommodate qualified people after you send them invoice and promise them the dives and it’s not about what’s convenient for you. Maybe take some courses in customer service or better yet ask a little kid if it’s ok to leave a buddy you promised to do some outdoor activity with hanging and learn from the kids. I messaged their competitor Adam at Waiheke Dive & Snorkel LTD. Although I messaged them late they responded immediately and took me in under their wings and I completed 5 dives with them in two days with whatever confined water skills or reviews/quizzes etc I had to have redone for $475, more than Half off Epic Scuba price. The owner Adam and the instructors Jake & Jo were very knowledgeable, friendly, professional, caring and fun. They had great attitudes and were like family together that treated their students/customers as family and not just $ signs. I’m sooo happy that incident happened and I ended up in good hands instead. At least I didn’t waste two days of my life and vacation with people who didn’t care to even respond to an email after they screwed s customer up. I believe he didn’t respond because he could not face what he did and figured to throw me in a bag of trash with God knows how many others he’s mistreated. Just because people have stayed quiet in the past it doesn’t mean you can get away with it. Someone will blow the whistle at some point and it happened to be me this time. I apologize for the long review to those reading, but that in itself should be witness to how frustrated he’s made me and how disrespectful his action was. I wish I could post screen shots of all my emails with them and time stamps on them as support to my claim. Worst customer service ever... Everyone try Waiheke Dive Shop instead of Epic Scandalous Dive Shop. RESPONSE TO EPIC SCUBA GOOGLE RESPONSE: First of all I never said I had pre arrangement before traveling. Second, you claim that you help me complete my theory and that your fellow dive community was here to help each other out. That is incorrect. Your staff did not guide me to the website to complete theory. They guided me to printing my old report card to submit to you. You did not arrange anything with Waiheke Dive and I was in contact with them before even contacting you. You did not even care to respond to my emails when I said you left me hanging and I had everything done, and asking what the verdict was that I was willing to pay $1000 but you didn't even care to respond to the emails. I did my PADI openwater certification through epic scuba and found the whole experience was great, no complaints. The instructors were very helpful and friendly which made the openwater and pool dives fun and enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back to do the advance openwater course.
