★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered a Hornby locomotive for export overseas. Loco was $680, some $200 over RRP, but rare so no problem. Price Included local Taxes (GST). I paid full price (incl GST) plus post.
The seller, Jason, then came back requesting an additional $40 to post item to me. I countered saying that he would save the GST amount, some $80 on an export sale. If he wanted an additional $40 post, then I would need the GST refunding. At this point it was clear Jason was unhappy and not particularly polite. I said that if he wanted an additional $40, then I would cancel the purchase. Which further upset Jason who told me the contact couldn't be cancelled with the implication I could lose my money. So I've indicated either the contract is fulfilled or I'll charge back via the credit card company.
So there's some lessons here Jason. Be upfront. If there is an error, then sure raise it but anticipate that the buyer might not agree. It is your mistake, not the customer's. For export, sales are 0% GST rated. Don't be greedy. You're charging over RRP, not refunding GST and expecting full whack postage. Finally don't bulls1t an accountant.
So I'll await delivery of the loco. Any further issues, I'll deal with the credit card company. Don't assume that because I'm overseas I have no right of recourse.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought what I thought was a kitset Spitfire, but when I got home found that it was instead a dye caste replica.
Took it back to exchange, but guy point blank refused.
At no time when I bought it yesterday, did he tell me that.
I also mentioned my rights under the consumer guarantees act, which seemed to make the guy even angrier.
This is not the way to run a business and reading another review, I can see I'm not the only dissatisfied customer.
See you in the small claims court then!!
