Flooring Xtra is New Zealand’s largest flooring brand, with 60+ retail stores nationwide.
If you’re new to our story then it may come as a surprise to you to learn that the Flooring Xtra brand is still relatively young. Founded in 2008, Flooring Xtra was formed by ten companions working in the flooring industry who were dissatisfied with the brand offering available to Kiwi consumers. The friends banded together to establish Flooring Xtra, a business built upon the belief that community based organisations were more effective than corporations.

Ten weeks after the launch of the Flooring Xtra brand, new stores were popping up all over the country. The brand’s popularity soared and the group of friends were overwhelmed by flooring retailers throughout New Zealand contacting them, eager to be a part of the Flooring Xtra story.
Within three years of launch, Flooring Xtra had become New Zealand’s largest flooring company. The appeal and success of Flooring Xtra can be attributed to the philosophy that lies at the heart of the brand. Based around a co-operative model, each store is owned and operated by a local with experience in the flooring industry. Stores in the Flooring Xtra group have the advantage of stronger buying power, access to marketing resource and a pool of knowledge to tap into from their peers. This formula has proven so successful that the Flooring Xtra brand was rolled out throughout Australia in 2010.
Whilst Flooring Xtra is the biggest flooring retailer in New Zealand, our target now moves towards becoming the best. The best business owners, the best teams and the best service providers for our customers.

Followed up several times to ask about quote and the last time informed the consultant who picked up my call how disappointed I was with level of service but that I was trying one last time to get quote. She said she’d pass on message to sales person that did measure. Still no call or correspondence! They cant blame Covid for this either as this happened before. So if can’t get them to provide quote , reluctant to try further with this company and they won’t be getting my business

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were looking for new carpet , visited to different stores, required only for 3 bedrooms. The sales person was great but the floor manager old guy with specs. Who tried to provide the quote was ready to rip off by explaining the cost in weekly payments. When asked whats how is bieng calculated total amount, advised don"t worry about that. Just $30 weekly payments for 3 years.Don"t trust what they say, the same quality and products or better you will find somewhere else. We saved over an $1000 by switching to other company and better quality product. Will never go back again there...Beaware of weekly payments if advised...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ GUARANTEE IS WORTHLESS // We installed Torlys laminate flooring 7 years ago in our kitchen dining area. While I was initially unsure of this product in a high use wet area I was assured it was a high performance product that was up to the job. I was also comforted by the 35 year guarantee they provided and also the statement that they could replace any panels that failed with relative ease. On this basis I went ahead. Fast forward 7 years and the product has warped around the sink area and gapped in some other areas. When they came to look they decided, with no evidence, that we must have had a "slow leak" that wasn't remedied and they were not willing to stand by the guarantee. They also had no panels left so couldn't replace them. They didn't even mention the gapping panels. We have never had any kind of a leak only stand use of a kitchen sink with a family of 4 with small children. They then decided it was the "design of the kitchen" that was at fault. Our architecturally designed kitchen was in place when the floor was laid so figure that one out. In any event I'm guessing their strategy is to offer an impressively long guarantee to provide comfort which they have no intention of honouring. My advice is don't fall for it like I did. They may be great sales people but they are ultimately without substance.

When I said the quote was too high, he never replied to offer other options or to answer my questions. I’m glad I didn’t go ahead with them. Found much better service elsewhere.

He is always willing to take the time to explain the benefits of each product and how they compare which is key when choosing suitable flooring. Highly recommend James. We also popped into the showroom the other day and spoke to Andy who was very lovely and again - very helpful when it came to product information. We love Flooring Xtra!
