Very informative and kind, with a surrounding scenery to behold. Large fish, great gear and a patient, helpful guide are what everybody will experience on a trip with Chris Dore.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Apparently google reviews aren’t much of a thing in NZ, but as an American the first thing I go to look at is google reviews so hopefully this will help convince someone Chris is a great guide! Knows every spot and where the bite is. Very friendly, willing to move if the fish aren’t biting. How many times have you been stuck fishing the same spot without any action because a guide doesn’t want to pack up? I was bent on taking a heli in to fish backcountry, Chris saved me a ton of money by telling me the bite was just not there and recommended a spot we could drive to. He also takes HD photos of you in action which was an amazing benefit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just spent two days with Chris after being highly recommended by a very good international fly fisher and Chris did not disappoint! We are new to the sport and he was very patient as he tutored and corrected our bad habits. I personally landed my first trout because of his guidance and the second one was even better (aka bigger lol). We will definitely be booking ahead so we can catch up with Chris again when we are next down South. Thanks Chris for an amazing weekend!
