β β β β β Awesome host lady. She just got up at midnight to let us in because we got a delay. The prices were ok. The facilities clean but a bit outdated. 1 dog and some cats live there. Beds are good. Countdown and some other stores are quite near. Walk to beach 15min

β β β β β Host was nice enough but looks set up more for long term backpackers instead of someone who just wanted a brief stay. Rooms were basically peoples houses! Room was pretty dirty, would not recommend to someone passing through for a night

β β β β β People staying there were awesome. Facilities and staff .... another story. This place had a fly infestation, cockroach in my room. In general not a clean place. To be honest the staff were not friendly felt more like we were a hassle than welcome. Could definitely be stepped up.

β β β β β Great facilites, but could it have more toilets. The kitchen is dirty. It sucks for the people like me who sleep in their own vans, because it is always very full so, as the owner said to us, if you donβt find a place, park in the street and sleep there (for $15 per person per night)! Also the owner is very rude. Iβm not sure if I recommend this place

β β β β β we stayed here for a month and a half and it felt like home! Options to stay in your car, tent or a room, for amazing value for money! Tv room, and such a big outside area to socialise and it is clean! The owner is lovely, long term backpackers are so welcoming. I made so many memories in this place, 5*

β β β β β I visited these premises a few days ago as I was looking for a place to stay in Gisborne and was so not impressed by what I saw that I did not spend a night in one of their dorms at the cost of $25/pp/pn. Flying Nun backpackers presented extremely poor in comparison to YHA in Rotorua where you can stay in spotless and roomy buildings for $30/pp/pn. Flying Nun backpackers looked dirty; there were flies inside the building while I have seen none in the outdoor anywhere around Gisborne during my stay. At a glance, fridges were dirty, possibly unhygienic. I didn't look at the bathrooms. This is definitely the worst backpacker I have seen in NZ's North Island so far.

β β β β β A little overprice for what you get. Is an old building that need a little more maintenance and clean. But over all is a good place to past the night
