About French & Sons
Bonjour & Welcome to French & Sons
We are the French family, living in a lovely old country home in the beautiful Rangitikei.
Our life is simple, filled with all the things that we love & cherish - 3 gorgeous Sons, 3 completely untrained adored dogs & paddocks filled with rambling gardens.
French & Sons is our baby, an extension of our home & love of the French way of life. Our shop is filled with beautiful, authentic French antiques, sprinkled with new world interiors, just as if you were walking into our own home.
We travel to France once a year & handpick pre-loved French treasures, showing their glorious patina & life stories to bring home to be loved again by you in your home.
Our love of gardening has also spilled over into French & Sons - we have three beautiful gardens filled with all our favourite plants for sale, Lavender, Mint, Hydrangeas, Rosemary, Bay Trees, Olive Trees, old world Roses & Buxus. This wonderful greenery is surrounded by French zinc tubs, French wrought iron grills & gates, wrought iron garden tables & chairs & French stately urns.
French & Sons website shows you just a taste of our current stock. We have 2000 square metres of gorgeous French Brocante & furniture to show you, so please just ask us if you are looking for a particular piece as chances are we will have it.
We look forward to meeting you,
Au revoir for now
Mel & Jimmy French

β β β β β The amazing merchandise in this store, although pricey , was completely ruined by the absolute rudeness of the shop assistant. I was attempting to email a photo I had just taken of a bull statue as I entered the store. She swooped on me and said " no cameras or photos allowed" I assured her I was not about to take any photos but was attempting to send one. She then followed myself and my 3 friends around in case we sinned. My friend asked the price of a gilt frame in the window. It was $900 and she decided to purchase as it was just what she had been looking for. Said assistant didn't offer any further assistance other than following us about the store. As we approached the counter to make the purchase we made the mistake of trying to enter through the wrong door from the courtyard. Assistant in a very strident tone..said "you can't come in here". We continued on toward the store when I remarked "That lady is not very friendly." At this point she poked her head out of the door and said in a particularly nasty tone. "I heard that"
We left. My friend was very disappointed that she had been put off purchasing what she had driven from Wellington to do . Neither myself, nor my friends will ever return to this store. I am assuming this person was not the owner ,and would hope that the owner will share this review with her. What a shame an anticipated lovely day out turned so sour so quickly.

β β β β β Really beautiful shop that was completely ruined by the lady that works there that I have since been told is the owner. We were followed around the shop so closely and felt like she thought we were going to steal something. It was the most uncomfortable feeling - we couldn't get out of there quick enough. As a retailer I understand that sadly we do have a shoplifting problem in NZ but I would never treat any potential customer they way we were treated - I wouldn't go back - which is a shame as it is a lovely shop.

β β β β β Such an awesome antique shop, it just keeps on going and going! New and old stuff too. If only I had a bigger suitcase and bigger wallet!

β β β β β Great store with amazing second hand goods direct from France. Unfortunately the consumer experience ended badly, as the owner was extremely derogatory towards refugees and we left the shop feeling disgusted.

β β β β β This a cute place located in bulls. They have recently expanded which is good. Rather expensive shop but I believe it is value for money if you are interested in antiques.

β β β β β It is a high quality shop indeed.
From the interior perspective, my eyes have been captured inch my inch.
The texture of the brick wall and the black paint are the great background to highlight all the charm of the collections. Great place to enjoy all the high quality pieces imported from France, see how they have been displayed beautifully. this shop brings so much vibes to this quiet little town Bulls.
