★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Poorly trained staff. The staff member I spoke with took about 10 minutes to understand what I was asking when all I was asking was how much was my missed payment amount. How much do I owe. Then provided me the incorrect repayment amount and an incorrect remaining balance which was the only two questions I asked after waiting on the phone for someone to answer for about 50 minutes. I only knew I was given some random incorrect values after I received my statement and made the payment. Also they added a new portal which is not linking my card so I can't check anything online relating to my account. I mentioned this to the same agent who told me he will look into it and now I am unsure if this will even get sorted. I also spoke with a previous agent regarding this same matter who was no help at all. I can't check my remaining balance or payments due amounts online at all at the moment. The charges are just insanely high as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When you try to close the account after paying off outstanding amount they will not close it and keep charging you fees. No way to contact them easily. Would stay WELL away from this dodgey shady company.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I browsed laptops at Harvey Norman a few weeks ago, found one for &$1,600 with packages included such as Norton, Microsoft Word etc. Rosie uploaded my passport and pay slips, explained I was waiting for my employment contract. Was on hold for two weeks. I finally received my contract two wks later, emailed Rosie. Gem finance granted me $6,000 within minutes,i went shopping that morning.
Now, I have a better laptop than everyone in the office. And you need the best in this day and age with a competive market. I spent the full $6,000 in store. Just $38.00 per month. And today I received an email from Gem if I wanted to lower my payments. The way to do this is pay it off as fast as you can. So my payments per month will be $200.00. Will pay it off in 7 months. Then you won't get stuck for 3 yrs! Go HN & Gem. Thanks

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Looking at these poor reviews, it's mind boggling how they got a star score of 4.2.
WARNING do not get a credit card from GEM, their interest and penalties are high when payment is overdue, also don't let those retailers con you to get it on GEM visa, trust me it's not worth the stress.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible experience! I applied for a card over 1 month ago. I talk to a represetative every week and they ask for more documents (of which I have provided) .They promise to get back to me in 2 days and no one gets back to me. I do not recommend!! Such hassle and I still don't have a card!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have never been happier to pay off a credit card and see the back end of this lot! I got the absolute runaround trying to find out a final balance so I could pay it all in one hit, but was transferred to three different people, the last of which spoke over me and didn't listen to what I was asking at all. I would not recommend this company unless you are absolutely desperate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I didn’t end up getting a gem Visa card, but three weeks of back and forth (ID MOBILE verification app not working, then told to send everything through nz post) not worth the wait. Looking at the reviews a blessing in disguise. Staff were not helpful / convoluted process

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It has been 2 months since they somehow were able to take $4000 from my bank account after I had only just paid them out to show a nil balance. For 2months I have been waiting for my money back only to be told to wait 24-48 hours each time I call, which I have told that about 6 times now, whilst trying to get my money back. I am done now, they are not going to know what's hit them when I am done with them. I just want my money back. That's all.
