β β β β β Coffee was significantly delayed because barrista and cashier kept arguing over something (a previous order likely). Would have appreciated if they left their discussion for later and concentrated instead on serving customers.

β β β β β Gentle Giant cafΓ© is located in a commercial part of town, which probably explains why it closes at 3pm on weekends and stops serving from its menu at 2pm or shortly after. Because being from Wellington, we were pretty surprised to walk in at 2:20pm on a Sunday to be told the kitchen was closed. Like, what?? So we settled for cabinet food, which was pretty darn good. My salmon and cream cheese pretzel was served heated; the bread was soft and the filling tasty. My partner enjoyed his pork filo pastry roll and my sister her sausage roll. I finished off with a tan slice - crumbly shortbread with a caramel filling. Good enough to make me want to come back sometime when the kitchen is actually open!

β β β β β Was a highly recommended place by frens but was disappointed with the service. Food was alright but not good enough to endure the service. 2 waitress was fiddling with their phones and chatting and wasn't attentive at all. Didn't seemed to bother to check the floor.

β β β β β What has happened to Gentle Giant???
Came in looking forward to a breakfast with my wife, walked out very disappointed.
I ordered the eggs my way with a side of pesto mash.... got presented with 1 piece of toasted bread with 2 small poached eggs and very tiny green tinged hash.... absolutely no flavour. Wouldn't have known if the hash had pesto in it. But why one piece of bread? You get 2 eggs wouldn't you perhaps get 2 pieces of toast? And don't get me started on how the place is looking. Gentle Giant you were once a real pleasure to visit and eat at sadly we won't return.

β β β β β I actually have no idea how this place isn't constantly booked out. The food is absolutely phenomenal and I am guilty of visiting this place nearly every week. The coffees are extracted to perfection and I adore the staff who are always smiling and happy to see you. Cannot recommend this place enough, please check it out!

β β β β β The vegetarian filo from the cabinet was so good, my friend tasted mine and went to get one for herself. It had kumara and pumpkin, I think. Youβre spoilt for choice with the pastries. Plenty of seating available too. For my friend, the bacon was a tad disappointing because it was chewy and not crispy.

β β β β β Cosy little cafe that my daughter (18m) and I go to regularly. Good coffee and amazing food. Have tried most things on the menu and everything is delicious, I find it hard to choose what to go for. Thanks heaps!
