โ โ โ โ โ I've been here for lunch several times and it's always been really nice. There's a tasty selection of woodfired pizza (I had a pear and walnut one time, that was particularly good), as well a respectable selection of general country pub food and drink. We particularly appreciate that there's a large and pleasant outdoor area, as it means our dog can sit with us. The staff have always been happy to bring him a bowl of water, and the tables all have umbrellas to provide shade.

โ โ โ โ โ Motherโs Day, so can appreciate how busy they were but seriously a couple the rudest people I have met and after waiting well over an hour for food and complete mix ups on tables - the food was not great . So sad as I was looking forward to going with my family - but never again and will be telling my friends too . Sorry team - get better staff and be better equipped for busier days

Great hospitality, great food, great scenery, and great patrons.
We had chicken schnitzel, fish and chips, and a brownie Sunday. All were perfect. They were ert welcoming to our greyhound we brought along, and several patrons came by our table to pet the dog.
What an excellent way to spend the afternoon after taking a short walk around the Carter Scenic Reserve.

โ โ โ โ โ An overall great place to eat and drink conveniently near me for a nice meal! Perfect for every occasion would recommend for anyone nearby to have a wonderful experience and only a short drive I have never had a bad time at the Gladstone inn pizzaโs are amazing and they manage to make refreshing drinks in under a minute! 5 stars would go there for any occasions.

โ โ โ โ โ A great country pub that has recently changed hands with the new owners friendly and the service excellent.
It was established in 1870 as a ferry station allowing access from the eastern farm area across the river into Wairarapa.
Plenty of dining room indoors and a large outdoor garden that sits on the edge of the river for fine days. Saturdays are popular with visitors and you're likely to spot a lot of classic cars and motorbikes, Sunday afternoon see a lot of families coming in, and Wednesday evenings are local night.
The winter menu has just started and has some great options for those colder days and nights. The food is honest and delicious, if you like pizza there is quite a range as well as a kids menu.
Dogs are generally welcome in the garden area and in summer you can watch the local jet boats on the river.
It does get busy and wait times can be long, but it's worth the wait while you relax with a drink.
