Its a shame that there are some poor reviews here as those experiences are completely at odds with mine. I've generally found them fair and easy to deal with. They always do what they say they will and inform me if there is anything unexpected that has a significant cost implication. They've also helped out the other half at no cost when she was having trouble with the car when I was out of town.

Some years ago my wife's Hyundai TB auto failed. We took it to Godley Road Autos and it came back fixed some time later. What they didn't tell us is that they sent it to an automatic specialist and the work done was not by themselves. I estimated their transport costs to the other specialist company amounted to $300 or so. They claim to do all repairs- not true! They should have asked me to get the AA to remove it to somebody that could do the repair. I was not happy!

Friendly staff and service. They worked hard to sort out my car, and even emailed a typed up invoice. So far I'm very pleased with the work done and have not encountered any issues.

The worst experience I ever had with a mechanic - after "fixing" the problem, 2 days the same problem recur. Took the car back, and after 5 days without a word, went to see what's happening as we need the car back. Took them nearly 2 weeks to "fix"it again (hopefully not for only 2 days), and to my shock I have been charged one more time for the job they've been paid in the first place and. Why do I have to pay again for their mistake? Is their responsibility to fix the same problem without me paying again and again. So, if you like to be ripped off, pay twice or more for the same job, to not be informed at all with what's going on with your car. Bought one of their old courtesy cars, was told there were no problems whatsoever apart from small patch of rust on boot. Immediately had issues which they agreed to look at but then upon dropping car off, were very rude and didn't have time for us, so we took it to a friend who works at Bishops and discovered the car needs substantial work done. Would have just appreciated some respect and honesty on Godleys behalf, especially as they are mechanics trying to run a successful business which we have spent quite a lot of money at.

I took my car in at the start of this year as my battery kept going flat on my car. I live very close to this mechanic and asked if they could help since the car was across the road. They had my car for a few weeks and kept saying they were working on it everyday. I had a friend that saw them everyday and said nothing was really being done and every now and again it would be moved. I was also quoted about $150 and i had to call them every few days to ask what was going on. When they said they had "fixed it" and disabled some of my alarm on the car, they then said it would cost $400. I managed to get the price down to $300, which i was still not happy with at all, and I was very shocked when originally it was less than half that price and they never mentioned that they were doing much work to it when i called every few days. When my partner went to pick it up he said nothing had been done but my alarm being disconnected and they tried to say they spent hours working on it and they apparently installed stuff into the car that we were not made aware of. The mechanic also called me a liar and said that he called me and was making me aware of what he was doing when i had proof i had called him every few days and i recorded our conversations, as i didn't trust what he was doing was completely what he was saying. I went away on holiday for a week a little while after i got my car back and came back to my battery being flat again. So turns out they did not fix my car at all and all they had done was cut one wire which did not "fixed" the issue at all, it now just means that i can't use the auto lock on my car. So i spent $300 for them doing nothing to my car. I heard the previous owners of this place were good but the man that now owns it is a liar and will rip you off. I highly recommend not going here at all and there is a mechanic at the petrol station just down the road that could be much better or go to New Lynn.
