β β β β β WE LEFT!!! (after one night, 3 nights being paid, Feb. 17th. to 20 th. 2020)
Small 18 or 19 sq. m. bungalow. Kitchen corner touching the bed, this is so small that it's easy to clean when leaving (as far as you want to avoid an extra charge...)
No ventilation system! Adjoined to the entrance of the bungalow: an old abandoned caravan and 2 trailers (see pictures).
The initial welcome was short, one unique sentence: "there is your appartment and the wifi code is mentioned here...", ...here is indeed a list of not less than 16 rules to be respected!!! (read them on the enjoined picture)
And be advised that not all the rules are specified: for example, our two children that whe had not seen for a year came to visit us with their self contained camper van. They just wanted to have a dinner with us. Brian asked us 50 $ per evening, arguing that cooking for 4 people uses more energy than for two!!! The intervention of a mediator of the booking organisation has been necessary to make him accept that our 2 children share our dinner, but only once!!! They brought their own forks, knives and spoons, since there are only two of them into the bungalow!
We felt so much unwanted that we decided to leave after one night without -of course- any refund of the two other nights already paid.
As a bonus, Brian insulted me, repeating twice: "you are damned!!!"

β β β β β Small rooms, not really an apartment. Ok as a brief visit.
Too many rules. Wouldn't come again.

β β β β β Service is fine. As and when you need it. Peaceful, quiet, clean and ideal for a getaway to the Coromandel.

β β β β β Felt like a lot of hoops to jump through to get booked here including emailing vaccine passes prior to stay. Long list of rules in the room that we were asked to abide by. Unfortunately we had an issue with ants that got into our sealed and locked room (Room 2) on the second day of our stay whilst we were at the beach for the day. They got all over our food sealed in a cupboard. We informed the owner immediately as requested, unfortunately we did not find him helpful. We asked if we could move rooms, as he mentioned the adjacent room was free, but he didnβt answer this request. He did not ever apologise for this issue. He gave us some ant killer but would not let us borrow a vacuum cleaner to get rid of the ants. He claimed it was our fault for leaving out a couple of mugs from breakfast and a bottle from the night before, but in my mind this is not unreasonable to leave out inside when on holiday. Because the ants were all over the room including in the bed we decided to leave the accommodation early. If the owner had been more helpful we most likely would have stayed. Again, Brian did not offer any apology at this point and just kept stating that the problem had never happened before. He continued to be unhelpful whilst we sought a refund, bordering on aggressive/confrontational. At this point we stopped dealing with him and sought to seek a solution with booking. They were exceptionally helpful and immediately profusely apologetic about the situation, and arranged a refund. We are new to New Zealand from the UK and I am sad to say Brian is the first unfriendly kiwi that we have met in over 5 months of travelling around the country. I am sure he will use his comments below to discredit me, I wonder if he can actually comment and apologise to us? If he had actually apologised and been helpful we would not have sought a refund.

β β β β β After I booked, I was emailed a long list of rules which meant I couldnβt bring my infant that is being breast fed. The child eats and sleeps, and definitely canβt walk or crawl. Not like I plan on spending anytime in that tiny room outside of sleeping hours. Anyways, he went ahead and canceled my booking after I said I would keep it - implying I would leave my baby elsewhere. After reading past reviews, iβm glad I decided not to stay here.
