About Hamilton Airport
Trans-Tasman airline operations
International services began in 1994 when Kiwi International conducted a series of charter flights. They went on to run scheduled flights from April 1995 to September 1996.
Freedom Air International provided trans-Tasman flights from December 1995 until April 2008 when parent company Air New Zealand took over these services. These services to Australia concluded in late April 2009. Pacific Blue commenced services in September 2009 and provided travellers with four direct services a week to Brisbane, Australia and connections to Asia and beyond. Services were suspended in October 2012.

β β β β β Great little airport. Easy access, good parking, nice facilities and excellent staff. Would be improved by a resumption of flights to Auckland and international flights. The main flaw is the lack of any form of public transport to Hamilton City and the price of the taxis is very high.

β β β β β Parking was bit expensive. There was no bus or public transport to get to the airport. The airport is very quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

No buses or shuttles anywhere, only taxis. Be warned $65 to catch a taxi into town.

β β β β β I made a silly baggage error and did not check my baggage on in time. The way I was treated by the Air NZ team leader was disgusting. Condescending, arrogant and unkind. Air NZ did not investigate my complaint but dismissed it without any attempt at decent customer service. All I can say is don't make any mistakes with the Air NZ staff at this airport, you will get treated like dirt... At least by one of the staff members. And Air NZ won't care.

β β β β β Our early morning flight was delayed due to fog in Hamilton so couldnβt fly back until night time the same day. Phoned up the long term parking at the airport to explain the situation as obviously we wouldnβt be getting back on time and our parking was originally until 1130 am.
The first call taker was quite rude and didnβt care at all, basically treated it as free money to them due to us not being able to land because of the fog. The manager was the same when talking to him, terrible attitude. Thereβs plenty of car parks itβs not as if we were stopping them making money

β β β β β Amazing customer service by Air New Zealand staff member. Considering we are in a pandemic the airport was awesome. There is even in the waiting area for your flight free filtered flash as water to fill your drink bottle up. Highly recommend
