This review applies to Hmm Mobile Mechanics/ H Town Automotive NZ, both owned and run by Fauster. My experience with him has compelled me to write a review, to offer a slice of reality amidst all the glowing reviews here that persuaded me to approach Fauster. I was quoted NZD800 plus GST by Fauster for a full cambelt replacement for my 1989 Toyota MR2. He had worked on my car previously when I took it to him for a coolant leak (which cost me $190), so I assumed he knew what this job entailed. Since this was cheaper than other workshops, I decided to send my car to him, trusting that he would be able to do the job right going by all the excellent reviews. The next day he phoned to say that the price he quoted did not include the hydraulic tensioner and oil pump o ring, and that I would have to bear their cost ($175). I protested as my decision to use his services was based on his initial quote. He then added that this job is more difficult than he expected and would be putting in more labour hours, the cost of which he would be absorbing. I relented and offered to pay him NZD1000 inclusive of GST, to which he agreed. Thereafter, I did not hear from Fauster and called him on the 4th, 7th and 10th day to enquire about my car. Each time, I told him to take all the time he needed to do a good job. He finally said my car was ready on the 10th day. I went down the same day and he asked for a payment of NZD1150, citing the same reason that it took a lot more labour. Even though I wasn't happy at all, I gave in and ended up paying NZD1100. I noticed the customary cambelt sticker was missing and asked for it. As Fauster was putting it on, he noticed a loose metal ring on one of the hoses. I could have very easily just driven off and the un-tightened hose would remain unnoticed until something happens. I also requested for an invoice, but Fauster said that he was unable to give me one immediately, and so I agreed to receive a soft copy by email, which he said I would receive the same night. I only received the invoice 3 days later after multiple reminders. The next day, the cambelt failed (pictured), 40 km after having it replaced by Fauster, leaving me stuck by the road with a dead engine. I did not inform Fauster immediately as I was still waiting for the invoice. I also did not have the car towed to him as I lost all confidence in him and could not trust him to do a much bigger job right. A cambelt failure can result in severe engine damage. Had I lost power at the wrong moment, terrible things could have happened. Two days after receiving the invoice, I sent him an email demanding a refund of NZD1100, reimbursement of the full reasonable cost of fixing the car elsewhere and compensation for loss of usage of my car (in cash or a car that I can drive while my car gets fixed). We exchanged a few emails, and in short, he refused all my demands, wanting me to send the car back to him for him to fix, which he believes he is entitled to (he is not - Section 32, Consumer Guarantees Act 1993). I explained to him that I will not be sending my car back to him, and he made it clear that he will not be compensating me for anything, even though I told him my demands and actions are covered by CGA1993. More trouble and inconvenience await me as I have little choice but to turn to the legal system for redress. Fauster has shown himself to be unprofessional on so many levels, and his refusal to make it right by me speaks for itself.

Repaired van for me within 24h on a weekend. Friendly service. Answered follow up questions correctly. Didnt feel like i was ripped off. Would use this service again. My son had a pre purchase inspection done by Hamilton mobile mechanic and its been over a month and we still haven't had the report given to us. We paid on the day, and have called and emailed many times and just get told he will do it but never does. We have basically paid $200 for nothing. I wouldn't trust these guys or recommend them to anyone. Find some where else to spend your money

I visited the shop looking for some help to source some wheel nuts. Most shops and wreckers were closed, and I was fortunate to find Hamilton Mobile Mechanics open. The friendly owner spared his time to look through his parts drawers for suitable wheel nuts and offered them to me for free. While getting some free parts was great, it was the willingness to go out of his way to help me that meant heaps! Great workshop to visit! I am thankful!
