I Just wanted to say well done with your efforts with yesterdays fire on signal hill .I live in Waverley and I was watching the helicopters working out the window . I was blown away by the skill of the pilots in such trying windy conditions . I was amazed at the co -ordination the pilots had in (A ) getting the water in to the monsoon buckets and then (B) flying in the thick smoke without a collision. These Guys worked tirelessly for over 7 hours . well done. By the way according to a fascinated watcher here the red helicopter could do a round circuit to pick up water, drop water and pick up water again in 2 minutes. well done to all who assisted, a big thumbs up to you all.

β β β β β My family and I were cruising around New Zealand and wanted to experience the real beauty of the island, and we thought, the only way to really see it well would be by air. I reached out to a few helicopter tour companies and although all were friendly (as most Kiwi's are) Heli Otago went above and beyond in their correspondence (thank you Ros!) to set up our private chartered flight tour based on the area's that we wanted to see. The flights are all very weather dependant and I appreciated that Ros was very straight up about the fact that if the trip needed to be cancelled, it would be. The entire operation is very much safety first, which we appreciated.
Our pilot Kevin was amazing. He gave us some great insight on the islands history and on some of his personal experiences from working on movie shoots which took place down on the South Island. We also learned about their company a bit and were interested to find out that their main work is actually in the agricultural and rescue sectors. We passed by one of their other helicopters working on a field at one point and were able to witness the precision their pilots have, which was impressive.
The highlight of the trip was definitely the scenery though, because it's just so beautiful out there. We were extremely lucky on our day for weather and the Heli Otago team even managed to secure a landing permit for us to touch down for some pictures!
I can't thank Ros, Kevin and the entire Heli Otago team enough for our unforgettable experience! It was amazing from start to finish.
