As a vibrant community Totara Park has it all. When we moved to Totara Park last year, we fell in love with the place and people here. Whenever we get out for dinner with friends and family, We always felt Totara Park deserves a place where Young families, kids, Seniors and everyone else can come together, and have a great time. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Took my husband and kids for brunch this morning. They did agree to make my daughter a ham and cheese toastie which was not on the menu but other than that, I don’t have much good to say.
I ordered the mini big breakfast which came with 2 sausages, bacon, eggs and toast. I swapped the toast for hash browns. The sausages were horrible cheap precooks, the bacon was limp, and the eggs were the worst scrambled eggs I have ever had. There was big brown chunks of something through the eggs and they were inedible.
My husband had the eggs Benedict. He said it was edible but the hollandaise was tasteless and the English muffins could have been hockey pucks.
I would normally tell the staff in person but no one asked how our meal was, so we left.
Things like quality sausages, well cooked eggs and house-made hash browns (don’t use the frozen supermarket ones.. ) make all the difference. You must make food that people want to eat again and again or your business will not survive - repeat customers are what give you longevity in hospitality.
The best part of the meal was the playroom which kept my littlest one entertained throughout our meal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time visiting here they were very accommodating for my Allergy needs and gave me several options to choose from. I chose smoked chicken and cranberry (minus the cheeses) pizza. Customer Service was excellent and the pizza was Awesome as I hadn't had pizza for a long time. Will definitely be going back. Thanks Chef...

Herbs & Hub were an absolute pleasure to deal with from the first phone call to book our group of 32 to the end of the night. A very memorable night to farewell a much loved manager and friend. Definitely recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've had breakfast and dinner here several times. They have great pancakes which were spoiled by the aerosol cream, despite asking for fresh cream. Front of house staff (Blake) was extremely apologetic and despite the chef refusing to do fresh cream on the first instance, Blake went out to the kitchen and whipped it himself. He provides quality service and is always willing to go the extra mile. A friendly neighbourhood eatery with a decent menu and a range of cabinet food. Would recommend!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love going to herbs and hub because it’s local, everything is always so good, best hot chocolate.
However last time we went and ordered poached eggs they came as hard as a 10 minute boiled egg. We would’ve sent them back and asked for new ones however we had already waited long enough and didn’t have time.
Not even slightly runny eggs.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came up from Hokitika and got taken to this restaurant because family had been there and rated it highly. It didn't disappoint. The young waitress was great and friendly. The porky porky was tasty and the banana split was so good. Food came out in good time and was hot. We'd definitely go back next time we are up. Deserves five stars as does the waitress ??

The garlic prawns, fettuccine is a must! Also the Tandoori chicken had the perfect amount of spice, chicken, cheese and crunch.
Overall, you won’t regret it! Definitely a stand out place in the area.
