β β β β β I will not return here, we booked online for 2 nights drove through monsoon like rain and on arrival were told "oh we emailed you cancelling the booking" . Asked if there was room at the motel for that evening and there was for one night. We were disappointed as we had heard good things about the place. We soon realised that we had been lucky. There were people on the outside space having a beer so I asked if the bar was open and given an abrupt " the bar's closed". Then the day after we left the money for our cancelled 2 day stay was taken from our account. 2 phone calls later we got a refund, neither phone call was a pleasant experience.

β β β β β The first time I stayed my room was upgraded to a room with a absolutely stunning view no extra charge. The room was clean warm and comfortable. Good shower pressure. Suited me perfectly. Restaurant is opened until 8pm which is very accommodating and served right to your room.
I recommend the fish and chips!!! The fish was so fresh and delicious. Definitely the best Ive had in a very long time. The staff are friendly, warm and welcoming. Which is so nice after a 11hr drive.

β β β β β Spent 2 nights here as a group of 6 in 2 units . The units were clean , comfortable and warm . Nothing flash , but perfect for what we required as we were there for a local fishing charter . The absolute highlight was the steak meal we all had at the restaurant , cooked to perfection , I'd come back here just to dine if I could ! The ladies at the restaurant let us stay on after closing time so that we could watch the Warriors game and take advantage of the bar . Fantastic ladies , warm and welcoming , we felt like we'd known them a lifetime and shared some good laughs and a fair bit of friendly cheekiness . Would definitely recommend this place if you're a down to earth person who just needs a comfortable bed and a good hearty meal . Thanks very much :-)

Handy with shop amenities & restaurant and bar
Room had queen & single with mini fridge & tea coffee , TV & freeview just no wifi
Didnt get a fresh milk to go with tea & coffee
Rooms need air con as it gets hot in bath rm & room
There is a swimming pool just didnt get to swim.
Great place recommended

β β β β β Loved the view from the room over looking Hicks Bay, the bed was comfortable but the pool had many leaves. Very near nice Onepoto beach, but NO wifi

The rooms are a bit musty and stuck in the 70s but new owners recently took over the establishment, so hopefully they have some plans to revamp the place. It has so much potential!!

β β β β β Turned up as no where else to free camp in our camper. Entered the shop to a adequately loud buzzer. Different folk some obviously staff due to hair nets came and went. After an enordinant amout of waiting we gave up and left. We wernt the only ones waiting for service. I felt sorry for the small child who was also patiently waiting just to purcase a drink. As for the rooms I can't comment but recommend reading other reviews.

β β β β β Generally old and tired. Reminded me of a facility I stayed at in the 1970's.
Staff didn't exhibit a welcoming personality - they were just there to do a job. Information you might have expected to have been told at check-in you had to ask for, e.g. the wi-fi password. We had to wait an hour for our meal and when it arrived our steak was undercooked. Blinds in room were broken. Advertised itself as a Motel Lodge but didn't have facilities in the room that one would expect of a Motel - not even a knife to cut an apple.
