β β β β β Not a very friendly bar, we went on the supposedly busy karaoke Wednesday night when it's advertised as open until 2am - we went at 1145 when there were four people in and asked for karaoke information to be told the karaoke was just finished... the three people singing then left and shortly after so did we. Don't waste your time or money in this place - go to S&M up the street, much nicer, friendlier and welcoming.

β β β β β First time ever in Wellington, first time going to a gay bar. Was amazed by the overall vibe and businesses of the bar. Had been exploring Wellington, trying a few different clubs here in there. Once I got to Ivy, it was all i wanted.
The layout is great as you to push people to get places and it seemed such a friendly environment to dance at. Music was great and I had a blast dancing with my bffs. Around 3am and the dance floor was still decently packed and vibe was still going.
A really great first experience for me and my friends. We don't live in Wellington but we'll be coming back soon, with even more friends this time. See you then :)

β β β β β For the first time, we got into this bar with friends and were left with a pleasant experience. Very nice staff, especially the bartenders. There are private rooms with a good bedWill definitely be back again.
There is a little trick, if you want to get a free cocktail and a separate room for free for 2 hours, you need to register on site 909gay,com and tell the bar the profile number, or provide a screenshot. The stock should work ??

β β β β β Ivy is great, the atmosphere, the people, the yummy cocktails ?
I remember one cocktail called Jim Jams that was tasty af.
Friendly service too.
Its just the best.
Also for someone like me who is sensitive to brightness, I appreciate the dark lights.
Highly recommended.

β β β β β Pros: There are always excellent drag shows on on the weekend, as well as karaoke nights on a Wednesday, usually hosted by a drag performer! They now have a spotlight so park and bark performances are gorgeous and show stopping! Bar staff are always friendly and helpful, and masked per the Ministry of Health guidelines.
Cons: Down a flight of stairs so not the most accessible. Dim lighting in the bathrooms.
Fans look as though they are not regularly cleaned. Poorly ventilated. Mask wearing is not enforced for patrons (despite Ministry of Health guidelines), and as people drink more, they abide less. As a result, after big shows, there is always a spike in COVID-19 cases within the PΕneke queer community.
These are things to take into consideration. If not relevant or if concern to you, then youβll always have a great night at Ivy!
