β β β β β Stayed at jacks in 2003 while on my around the world trip.
The lady who runs it was fantastic, and the place is brill.
we staying in one of the private rooms in the garden, after spending a few weeks in the main building.
The 3 level bunk beds are great fun.
well worth the stay, and work on the vineyards is hard but fun!!!

β β β β β Good lounge but small kitchen and the bed it is biggest not really confortable,they need to be more clean it the bedroom. After this things the peoples in the front it sooo warm

β β β β β Jackβs is a backpackerβs with a heart! The kind of place where friends feel like family. Itβs clean and they donβt try to cram in as many people as possible. The kitchen is a bit small but that was really the only downside. Give them a call!

β β β β β I stayed in Jacks the last 6 month, it's like a second home for me. Everything is clean, everyone is friendly and helpful. The management is top so that everybody can live there happy and in peace and work day and night shift. I found a second familie in Jacks. Definitely the best Hostel in New Zealand. I just can recommend this Hostel!!! !

β β β β β Not the best showers (bit small), but everything else was suprisingly great for something so cheap and central, you really canβt complain.
It is very welcoming (enter at the back).
People were nice. I stayed only one night but I would definitely stay here if I was working in the area.
Another great thing is the free washing machine.

β β β β β While the person in charge was very friendly and nice, the facilities themselves were very unclean. We stayed in the 6 person girls only dorm which had a kitchenette and ensuite to share. There was a lot of black mould. The walls had had obvious leaks in them / very deteriorated from the outside. There was hair in the sink and at the bottom of the top bunks (even though me and my friends seemed to be the first persons to check in). It doesnβt appear to be cleaned regularly given the state of the bathroom especially. The couch outside also smells of B.O.
Only $25 per night so if you donβt mind feeling a bit ick with the cleanliness it wonβt kill ya.
