β β β β β Jai is the best Muay Thai gym in Wellington. Spacious, well maintained and most importantly, very experienced trainers, which all thoroughly explain the drills and check you are performing them correctly. I have lost 7kg in 6 months, and love coming to Jai.

β β β β β Jai has been amazing for this total martial arts newbie!
I had always been too unsure of myself to walk into a martial arts gym of any kind - what if they're all psychos and want to kick me in the head? Hahaha!
After going along to their free into class I made a great discovery - the instructors are the nicest people (except when they're pushing you to do a drill with 100 kicks, that's just evil ;)
Jokes aside, couldn't recommend the team here more highly, even if you're just looking for a fitness class that's actually useful (I'm looking at you, boxfit classes at places that rhyme with Mez Thrills :P )

β β β β β Trained at Auckland gym for around 6 months. In 6 months the owner never had the courage the tell me βgood morning β.
The gym are big, 2 big rooms with good number of punching bags.
I got 7 years boxing experience and the training was repetitive and didnβt show any evolution. Some of the teachers used to use some movements for warming up that we use in Jiu Jitsu (completely useless for boxing).
Left the gym cause I think they dons really train hard.

β β β β β I didnt like it i went to a beginner class was matched with this giant guy 4x the size of me, learnt nothing new and trainers paid no attention or motivated me, think its more tailored around people who already know what to do

β β β β β The first trainer we had was very nice and encouraging but I thought the female trainer there was just derisive. As a complete beginner she was very rude and demoralising when I didnβt get things right, and seemed more interested in criticising than teaching. Not an encouraging environment and definitely wonβt be coming back.

β β β β β Jai Thai was recommended to me by a friend when I was visiting from Australia earlier this year. I got in touch with them for private sessions and they accommodated my needs with no fuss! The gym is easy to get to and has a welcoming vibe to it. The trainers are great and professional - got straight into our session, you really got value for every minute you paid for and I learned a lot. The owner also checked in with me after my first session to see how it went which was a very nice unexpected surprise. When I had to come back to Australia they happily refunded me the balance of my sessions. I highly recommend this place for any skill level (I am a beginner however saw some professional fighters also training there) and will definitely be coming back when Iβm in New Zealand again.

β β β β β Jai was the first gym that I tried Muay Thai at, and till now, I havenβt really found a reason to change gyms. The training facilities are great, the classes are interesting, and the community at Jai is really welcoming! I have had friends that tried other gyms around Auckland but all of them came back to Jai for various reasons, that there werenβt enough time slots available, werenβt enough members of a similar skill level, or werenβt enough variety in the classes. If youβre looking for the best gym to try out some Muay Thai or to train with a community that will likely match your skill level, Jai is the gym to go to!
