★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chris Northmore and his team at James Henry Flooring provided our family with a high quality coloured Matai floor, made from recycled timber. When the time came to install, Chris and his team kept us well informed of progress and updates.
When unforeseen problems arose Chris and his team managed them with a professional approach and positive attitude.
We love our new timber floor! It ticks all the environmentally friendly, carbon neutrality and patriotic boxes for me. It’s warm and looks fantastic!
NEW ZEALAND GROWN
I love that fact that our floor was grown here in New Zealand and has employed Kiwi craftsmen to re-manufacture the timber. It is not made of imported South-East Asian timber potentially cut from existing rain forests. Our floor tells a story of New Zealand, every day.
THICK & LONG LASTING
Our floor is 12mm thick
Imported flooring products are typically 3mm thick of quality timber with a 9mm glued composite board beneath it. Having a 12mm thick floor of solid quality timber allows for sanding requirements in the future without the need to rip up all the old flooring.
WARM
We needed to lay the new timber floor onto a new concrete slab so I was concerned that our floor would be cold as a result. I discussed this problem with Chris and was assured that as long as the house was insulated and heated normally that the floor would be warm. He was right. The concrete slab is insulated and the timber floor becomes the temperature of the room, unlike the area in our cloakroom which we tiled on top of the concrete and remains cold.
The solution has also meant that we do not have expensive electricity bills to pay for in-efficient under floor heating.
MY WIFE WAS RIGHT!
Initially I wanted a polished concrete floor however my wife, Cathy, wanted a timber floor. Cathy was right! Timber has been the best choice and James Henry provided us with a beautiful floor. We love it.

We had previously used another flooring company, who failed to repair our floor, and even made things worse, this was when we sought help from Chris. The team was very professional, extremely tidy, and the work quality is excellent.
The Rubio Monocoat has no smell and is safe for our newborn baby.
Would highly recommend James Henry to anyone who is thinking about sanding their floor or repairing their floor.
Will definitely use you again soon in the near future!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We converted a bedroom into a bathroom which involved ripping up the old Matai floor to get all the plumbing in. The old floor was unusable subsequently so we sourced replacement timber overlay floors from James Henry with the install being done by ourselves. Great service, prices and delivery. As you can see the results are amazing and it also blends in seamlessly with the rest of the house.

From Adrian's overall guidance and management, re-organising timeframes and keeping engaged throughout lockdown, to Kurt and his incredible knowledge and passion for his craft, to Izzy and Finley for bringing my sad old Matai floors back to life and so full of character, and and to Jason and Scott for their care and good humour with my furniture; all were a pleasure to work with.
From the first day of sanding, I knew that the floors were going to look amazing. Retuning to the finished water-based polyurethane sheen exceeded my expectations.
While this was only a small project, to me it was a major undertaking. All the team were courteous, informative, cordial and considerate.
I now have the most beautiful floors and a far greater knowledge of timber. My thanks to you all.
