Awesome experience! We highly recommend this as an experience for a weekend day out, as a hobby, or even a competitive sport. You could tell our instructor was keen and knowledgeable and very patient as we put our dubious skills to the test. We had a private training session and experience with seven guys for a stag do. Needless to say it did come with obligatory LOTR Legolas character references, an elvish wig, and plastic pointy ears. We found the online instructions really easy and self explanatory to find the venue. It was extremely scenic and relaxing, set among the Waikanae hills, alongside the river with the range set within a forest glade. The range is a field archery course set amidst the trees and bush shooting at both 2D and 3D targets. We did have anxiety about ensuring we avoided the live (tame) chickens and turkeys that roamed around the range. The course and training was suitable for people of a variety of ages and abilities. The targets were mainly large wool bales and easy to hit - they control for skill/talent/experience by adjusting range to target. The venue was accessible by standard vehicle, up a long gravel driveway. There was one portaloo toilet onsite. Access around the course was via grass-covered rocky irregular terrain, on a gentle grade. The grounds were partly accessible by powered wheelchair. Access was limited by the irregular surface and long grass. The club does have wheelchair using members who can access the course with All-terrain wheelchairs. They also do have short bows for those with limited strength. In short, a great outing in an awesome setting. Very enjoyable.
