Kinloch Golf Club - Kinloch Golf Club 93 Kinloch Road

4.4/5 based on 8 reviews
I can honestly say this is the number one golf course in New Zealand. For those unable to play the great links courses of Scotland, Kinloch compares with the best of them. A true links experience with Jack Nicklaus at his best. - Sir Bob Charles

Then to the golf, fantastic course, fairways were excellent, greens were great considering just cored. The style in Which we were treated could not have been better the rest of new New Zealand need to take a leaf from these people. So big shoutout to ,Kim,Tom and Glen, best time ever on a visited golf course.

After playing big kinloch earlier it would be easy to rip on this 10 hole short course. But truth be told it was fun even with some crazy pin placements and greens were good, people super friendly. Played in jandals and priced at $15 it was value for money.

We became honorary Kiwis for the day thanks to the super friendly golf director and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Took his advice to play off the white Tees except for the scenic hole. After a wet game at Wairakei, weather was fantastic on 9th March 2019.

All in all a pretty disappointing experience for the amount It costs to play here. Almost $300 green fees, terrible practise balls on range, cafe didn't open until 11am close to when we finished our round. Only two water refill spots on the entire course. Long slow greens aswell. Save your money and go play wairakei just down the road, better price and better value.

I've been wanting to come out to Kinloch for some time. I always thought it'd been quite expensive but over the last few years the price of a round has not increased while everyone else's courses had. So when I was coming up to Taupo this time I booked in and I'm really glad I did. The course is beautiful, the greens are amazing too. My advice is: if you don't know the course take your medicine and if you're not hitting well take the safe option. Take lots of balls. Avoid bunkers haha they're at the front of every green and the rest is protected by rough and drop offs and you do not want to be in the rough. Yeah I shot over 100 so there's my bench mark. I'll be back.

As a scratch golfer I had heard so much about the ultimate NZ test which is the Kinloch black tees. While incredibly tough off the blacks it was a fair test, lost a few balls but loved the day and finished with a 79. Don’t play the blacks if you’re a higher handicap golfer or it will turn into a long day, play forward tees and enjoy how truly beautiful and special this top NZ course is. James Ashwin
