Lawn Road Retreat exceeded our expectations when we stayed for the Hawke’s Bay marathon event this year. So much so that we immediately booked it again for next year. It’s rare to find a holiday home of such high quality and we all felt instantly at home in the many welcoming and comfortable spaces. So much so that we chose to eat in instead of going out to dinner! The owners had thought of everything and it was a real bonus to have fresh eggs from their chooks. We only whished that we could have stayed for longer. Looking forward to next May already!
Beautiful property, perfect for our large groups of 8 couples.
Plenty of room for all, multiple living areas and wonderful outdoor entertainment space with fireplace.
The pool and spa were both a welcome relief after our day on the bikes. We loved the free range chickens too.
Close proximity to wineries and other points of interest. Thoroughly recommend.

Lots of things to amuse the children…the chickens, pool, tennis and cricket on the lawn.
We loved the pizza oven and spa and everything was clean.
We wish we’d booked for longer and hope to come back again.

Our holiday was FANTASTIC.
Aged 75 to 21/2 we had
everything here to keep us happy.
Fun, laughter, games, tennis comps, swimming, spas, partying.
Just perfect.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our group stayed for the Hawkes Bay marathon again this year. I didn't believe it could be possible, but the property was even better than last time. More bathrooms, a games room, and a beautiful cedar hot tub. We spent a good deal of time trying to think of other occasions that would require us to hire the property again; it's a real slice of heaven. Thanks for being such lovely and considerate hosts, and for your commitment to our planet as well. And the chooks are so sweet!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Two extended families were fortunate enough to spend a long weekend at Lawn Road Retreat recently, what an absolute pleasure it was with a great time had by all. All the facilities were fantastic even the large grassed area where a bit of touch rugby was played and some cricket, the tennis court also getting some use. Spending time by the open fire was also a treat in the evening, we even had a crack at the pizza oven with some success. The layout inside is also great, with privacy if needed. Penny is a wonderful host, catching up with her on the morning we were leaving to pass on our thanks for a wonderful and relaxing time. I would recommend this place to those who want to have a get-away with family and friends, in a wonderful setting, away from the hassle of city life.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a fantastic stay at Lawn Road Retreat, it really suited our large group of 17, I highly recommend this place, luxury inside, and so much to enjoy, loved the new hot tub, playing tennis and good pool table, we enjoyed our evenings around the outside fire and having wood fired pizzas. Well equipped kitchen everything you need !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow! What an amazing place to spend a few days. We had a large group of friends, all female but varying in ages, stay at the Lawn Road Retreat, and it was such a perfect venue. Plenty of beds and bathrooms for everyone to have their own space, the most amazing outdoor entertaining area, and the pool is a real plus. The Retreat is in a beautiful rural setting, the perfect place to celebrate a special event or just to have a peaceful weekend away. Penny, the lovely host, was extremely accommodating from the moment we started speaking. Thanks again for having us! I hope we will be back :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a fantastic family holiday at Lawn Road Retreat and can’t recommend it more highly. Penny and James are outstanding hosts and the property is amazing. There were 11 adults and 5 young children in our group and it worked brilliantly. Tennis court, pool, spa, pétanque, pizza oven, outdoor table tennis and more - so much to do, we didn’t need to leave the property at all! The house itself is stunning and extremely well appointed - we wished we were staying longer and will definitely be returning!
