About Learning Tree Childcare Westgate
Curriculum
We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki,
“For children to grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society”.
Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners.
Te Whāriki supports this work by providing a framework of principles and strands. The principles are the foundations of curriculum decision making and a guide for every aspect of pedagogy and practice. The strands are 5 areas of learning and development, where the focus is on supporting children to develop the capabilities they need as confident and competent learners. Each setting takes these principles and strands and, in partnership with parents and whānau, uses them to ‘weave’ a curriculum whāriki that is specifically designed for their children.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommend this Early Childcare Centre. My son has been with Learning Tree Westgate since 2016 when the centre first opened. A second home for my son where I knew I didn't need to worry. A place where he is well cared for, where he is comfortable & enjoys attending. Teacher's are educated, patient & enjoy their jobs. I see that the teacher's truly care about each individual & work alongside us parents in teaching & helping our little one's in their first years of learning. My son is almost 4 & loves where he is. He has adapted well to change in each class room environment & has gained some really cool friends. He's picked up alot verbally & enjoys coming home & wanting to do his own separate "homework" with his younger sister & parents teaching us what he learnt today/this week. Learning Tree Westgate & the team there thank you for making our son's 1st few Year's of learning go by smoothly for us all, our daughter will be attending here soon too. The best out west ?? #LearningTreeWestgate

Leaving my tiny baby in the care of other people was a pretty big deal, but the care and attention the teachers provide is second to none and I have always been confident that she is safe and loved. My daughter is happy, confident, social and independent. This is a testament to the care and education provided by the team. The centre provides the perfect balance of fun and education. Their safety practices and communication are above excellent. They have also been extremely accommodating of my daughters dietary requirements. At almost 2 years old she is literally running out the door each morning to 'go to school'. I'm convinced she actually likes some of her teachers more than me, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been with Learning Tree Westgate for nearly a year and have been so glad we picked them to look after our 6mth old. They make you feel so welcome, it’s a safe and friendly atmosphere and our son (now a bum shuffling 15mth old) loves his garden and sandpit adventures daily. He also makes the most of the in house chef on site, eating better meals than his parents most days.
We’ve been so happy with our choice we’ve successfully suggested the centre to two other families.... and counting.
Can not recommend enough!!

Sam has been going to Learning Tree Westgate since he was 6 months old and is nearly 4. The caring team of Teachers and Management are always SO welcoming and nurture each child’s individual development. Every day at Learning tree is filled with exciting ‘learning through play’ activities for all the kids. Sam absolutely loves going to daycare and I have peace of mind knowing my Son is in the best care while I am at work. Learning tree Westgate is also a modern centre with plenty of parking which makes drop off and pick up stress free on those busy mornings. I highly recommend!!
