About Little Wilderness
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
We wanted to start small and design every detail of a unique venue and use a lean business model that allowed eco-ethical events achievable and sustainable for years to come.
The 15h grounds have been a labour of love since we bought it over 10 years ago. We started by clearing the stream and riparian borders, replenishing the soil with custom seed mix, planting both native and heritage fruit varieties and allowing nature to do its thing, rewild.
The area used to be full of orchards and so we chose a shed build reminiscent of this but instead of going for rustic we chose a bit more of an industrial contemporary edge with a few pops of colour. By keeping the interior and exterior neutral we figured it would be far easier for clients to customize without spending too much or go the other way and creative something quite opulent without the constraints of a barn or vineyard theme.

We booked Little Wilderness pretty last minute, due to cancelling our big wedding which had already been postponed twice thanks to COVID. We decided to downscale completely, and the moment we saw Little Wilderness we knew it would be perfect for our smaller, intimate wedding.
Our wedding day was so magical, and it was largely due to the amazing setting of Little Wilderness. Having our ceremony in an orchard, being surrounded by native forest, with access to the BEST spots for photos - what more could you want? The modern and rustic shed on the property is the perfect spot for a reception, and it has everything you need whilst also being eco-friendly.
George is the best venue manager / owner I've dealt with - he was responsive, helpful, laidback, fun, organized and clearly so passionate. He was a breath of fresh air after dealing with other venue managers in the industry, and we feel so lucky to have had him help us bring our day to life.
This is hands-down the best wedding venue in Auckland and if you're considering having your wedding here, just do it - it'll be the best decision you'll make for your wedding.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thank you Little Wilderness and George (owner/director) for hosting our wedding of 80 guests at short notice. We were so grateful to have found you so close to home. Your setting is just perfect for a DIY wedding and would recommended your venue to anyone that is keen to make their wedding style their own. There was ample time for set up/pack down and George is passionate about his work and event coordination. I would highly recommend using him for your duty manager/event coordination and Little Wilderness. It’s value for your money and it won’t disappoint. We had ceremony, reception and photos at the location. The only downside is the 10pm cut off, simply consider an early start wedding and make the most of the day! Although the bonus with this, was not being exhausted the next day. It was easy to organise a shuttle for guests to and from.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had an intimate wedding ceremony with 15 guests at Little Wilderness in May 2022 and truly couldn't have asked for a better day.
George was incredibly helpful with the lead up to the day and all of our questions, as well as being an incredible event manager and celebrant! We received nothing but praise about George from our guests, and they felt like he was just one of the family.
The venue itself is stunning (requires very few decorations!) with so many beautiful spots for photos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We couldn’t be happier to have found Little Wilderness for our special day. The place is magical, surrounded with beautiful nature that doesn’t even need much decorations. There are many stunning spots within the property for ceremony and for the photos. George (the owner) is amazing as well, he was there for us all the time, picking up multiple phone calls and giving advices. We recommend him as a manager for the event, he helped us make the day run smoothly, even with the last minute requests. All the guests loved it as well. Thank you George for all the support and attention to detail!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Finding the right wedding venue was our number 1 priority. We wanted lots of natural beauty, and a space where we and our guests could be relaxed and comfortable - Little Wilderness ticked all the boxes!
It was the first venue we visited, and we fell in love with it so much we cancelled all our other appointments immediately and booked it in as soon as we settled on a date. You have to visit the venue to experience the magic of the place, it feels like you've stepped outside of Auckland into quite literally, a little piece of rustic, beautiful wilderness - albeit with comfy seating areas and a lush getting ready room! The natural scenery and the grounds are stunning and peaceful. As soon as I got to the venue on the day I started to relax just being in that space. On top of that, the venue has showers and an awesome space for getting ready on site, plus amazing photo locations, so we were able to do everything all in one place which massively reduced our stress on the day.
We received so many raving compliments from our guests about the venue too - it was just the type of space that people enjoy spending time in! The natural beauty of it and the minimal but tasteful rustic decor /furniture also means you really don't need much in terms of decorations. It's beautiful as it is.
George is also an absolute hero, exactly what you want in a venue manager. Helpful, fun, easy to communicate with, down to earth, and went above and beyond to make our day wonderful and stress-free.
I would also highly recommend opting for the 2 hour photo tour add-on option. My husband and I both agree it was our highlight of the day! So much fun riding on the buggy and visiting all the scenic spots, and made for some beautiful photos and video moments. Finally - we felt so happy that our wedding was supporting an eco friendly business looking after our native forest. Love your work guys - keep it up. Couldn't recommend the venue highly enough!!!
