Extensive menu. Love a duck does great duck, but their stir fry was great too. Don't judge the place on the looks, food was amazing and staff very friendly.

A very basic looking Chinese cafe but with a good selection of BBQ meats in the window. The menu is good. It's not massive but lists a variety of dishes not found in most suburban places. Service is basic but efficient. The food itself is flavoursome and nicely cooked. Not a lot of meat in the meat dishes but, then again, they seem to be reasonable cuts. Veggies are fresh and, unlike a lot of places on the Shore, neither enormous near-raw nor soggy messes. The restaurant, itself, isn't the kind of place you would seek out for dining in, but there are a few tables. Still, basically a takeaway. So, it's rather curious that they don't provide bags. Be warned: take your own bag of find yourself juggling a pile of boxes. A couple of other slightly stingy points: no dipping sauce with dumplings (really?!). And I still can't get used to the NZ expectation that you pay for steamed rice, no matter how much you buy. Not expensive to buy but it seems a bit mean. All up, in context of pretty poor suburban Chinese restaurants, this is probably a good choice for takeaway Chinese. But if there any amazing little gems around the area I'd love to know.

Highly recommend! Have eaten here a few times and really enjoy the food, so tasty and flavour filled! Staff are lovely and attentive, we sat down and within 2 minutes had a steaming teapot of tea to sip. We had crispy pork belly noodle soup and beef brisket on rice. The noodle soup was especially delicious and a welcome meal for me as I was craving a good broth from my travels around south east Asia, hit the spot! :)

OK so I've been going to love a duck for a long time now. Well over a decade. The food is great, the service & decor has always been subpar...Ive always put up with this because the food tasted good. However over the years they have continually put their prices up. Now it's beyond a joke. As of May 2022, a single serving wonton noodles soup with beef costs $20. I'm sorry, but thats absurd. Across the road at Hai Pong you get a noodle soup three times the size for $17. So enough is enough, live a duck you just lost this returning customer. When your prices are realistic I'll return

First time visiting, very disappointing. Empty restaurant with only owner sitting there. Saw flies all around the restaurant and kitchen area. Order the Roast duck, lady who was chopping it up dropped a piece of duck on the dirty kitchen floor, picked it up and put it back on the plate right in front of us. Had to argue with her to replace the plate. Food was below average, was quite expensive for the quality.

I thought I would come here as used to come.for lunch years ago all the time. Had the brisket and crispy pork on white rice (no bok choy given). Food heated in microwave, was warm at best. Unfortunately had to get rid of some of the pork as was so fatty. The decor was still the same, plates etc. I really would have thought it would have been done up, but was still the same and so old and tired. I felt awful after the meal, just because it was that gross, warm, fatty and not good. Shame as this place used to be great. Won't ever go back and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Been going there for 18 years. It's the only restaurant in Northcote that is consistently excellent, food wise. Nothing to look at and floor can be slippery when it rains. Tread carefully and eat well. Also licensed with a wine shop next door!

Delicious and affordable food. But service was not great, lady in the front was kinda rude (maybe itโ€™s the way she talks or i donโ€™t know), she did not give us the complimentary tea but other customers had it. I was shocked that the pork bbq was put in the microwave to reheat it (first time I saw it in person, idk if this applies to other restaurants)
