★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food good although had to have second pick as not enough serves of first pick. They did give the kids a sundae each, free of charge though. Service lacking. Prices on menu were less than what was charged.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My whanau congregated in Dannevirke for an unveiling and afterwards met at the Mangatera Tavern to share Kai. Sam and his staff were welcoming and the food was fantastic and hot. I was told the Pizzas were amazing. Thank you so much.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a wonderful meal for 2 at the restaurant. I'm glad we booked in advance as it was full on a Saturday night. Friendly caring staff. Food was delicious (crispy pork belly and tender lamb shank). Good portion sizes and timing between our 3 courses was all perfect. The specialty coffee with amaretto was the best I've ever had in NZ (with real thick cream not whip). I wish we lived closer so we could come here more often.

Immaculate food, great portions, great staff, comfortable seating with great outdoor playground for kids.
I really love the "informal" setting, way more layed back and casual, you don't need to dress up and look posh.
We only used the restaurant part and we couldn't hear the racket of the bar so good distance away. We have never tried the accommodation
