About Matamata Medical Centre
The best time to access medical services is during our usual opening hours, 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. We have access to laboratories and x-rays and have a wide range of staff available to support your care. Remember, for any medical emergency you need to call 111.
However, sometimes care is needed outside business hours and you then need to use our after hours services. We have GP’s (based at home) who are rostered on call to come in to the medical centre for urgent medical needs. Outside business hours please phone (07)8819102. Your call will be answered by NZ based Homecare Medical nurses. These nurses are able to offer advice to help you with your medical care or they will arrange for you to be seen by the on call GP at the medical centre.

β β β β β Great Medical centre. Every time I've called to make an appointment, I get in the same day or next, at the latest. Staff are always friendly and professional. Charge of $40 to see a doctor here compared to $18 in Tokoroa.... But, well worth it in my opinion. In Tok you can be waiting up to a week or more to see a doctor...Which is just nuts...

β β β β β Having moved here this year I made my first visit to the centre today and was seen by Dr Steven Thrupp. He was so kind and polite. I didn't even have time to sit down in the waiting area before he called me in. Overall I was very impressed with the visit - from the time I walked in the door to the time I left, I was well looked after. Thanks Matamata Medical Centre!

β β β β β The staff do their very best to accommodate the patients' needs, although it was expensive in the weekend it was well worth it, Dr Varty was as always amazing very helpful,and the nurse was too. It may be hard to get an appointment during the week, but the nurses do their best to help you out and get a script if you need one.

β β β β β Came in after a serious accident. Was sent home without X-rays and proper examination. That couldβve killed me. Had to urgently go to Waikato hospital where I was diagnosed with fractured spleen, punctured lung and broken rib. What the med center did couldβve killed me. Iβm still in hospital not recovering yet. Do not recommend ever.

β β β β β Would not recommend. Doctor couldnβt be bothered with me. Couldnβt be bothered looking into it so just referred me to someone else. Never going here again. And they only care about money. Nurses are great but the front line? Definitely not
