About Meadowood Boutique Accommodation & Venue
We (Emma & Colin), took over at Meadowood in May 2017 and consider ourselves the current custodians of this little slice of Hawke’s Bay paradise. We’re also very lucky to be able to bring up our two little kids, Ivy and Ross, on such a glorious country property, with plenty of trees to climb and hide in!
Meadowood House was architecturally designed in 1934 and built in three stages over an 11-year period. It was built to the latest Art Deco fashion by the Janette family, and has been passed through a series of very lucky owners since then.
Meadowood is ideally situated off State Highway 50, between Napier and Hastings, and only 15 minutes from Hawke’s Bay airport. The wonderful wineries of Hawke’s Bay are on our doorstep, as are cycle trails, golf courses, markets, galleries, and so many more recreational options. Or simply stay on site and ramble across to Zeffer Cidery and sample some of their award-winning ciders on a typical hot Hawke’s Bay day.
However you decide to pass your break in Hawke’s Bay, our goal now is to continue to preserve the history and serenity of Meadowood, while adding a little bit of fun to the property, and share the pleasure that this site has to offer with as many holiday makers and fun seekers as we can!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely, beautifully decorated accomodation in wine country. Emma is a very friendly and helpful host. Rooms are comfortable (all 4 are very different so take time to check what you want before booking) and perfectly clean. Communal space is lovely and it's great that breakfast is selve serve so you can have any time that suits.
We would love to come back in the Summer when we can make the most of the outside facilities and perhaps try glamping!

House is an art deco restoration, with a few period furnishings, though I doubt that even when new, the place was ever more beautiful.
Owners are kind and friendly. They’ve put allot of love into this property and it shows. There’s shady walkways, a sunny garden, glam-ping tents, an outdoor hot tub and a bar hut, and generous provisions in the fridge.
I was traveling solo, but it was easy to see how great it would be to stay here with a group.
Couldn’t possibly recommend staying here more.

Emma (the owner) was incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms were stylish and relaxing, and the surrounding gardens were stunning. Walking through the gardens at night was the highlight of my trip.
It's worth noting that the kitchen and bathroom are shared among other guests, but everything was kept in perfectly tidy condition.
I didn't get to spend nearly enough time around the house since I was in the area for business, but I can't wait to go back for a holiday.

Host canceled my booking (her personal choice-not govt restrictions) then went about stalking my social media pages (I have emails to prove this if anyone wants to follow my review up ?) would not recommend at all

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a group booking earlier this year at Meadowood. Sadly as soon as we arrived and settled we got a text from the host accusing us of bringing more guests than booked which was not the case. We felt very unwelcome and scrutinised, it definitely ruined our stay.
Place was also very cold, the main building didn’t have sufficient heating other than the kitchen area.
Would not recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing stay at a perfect location. Has everything to relax, comfortable and close enough to town to not be a problem. Outdoor baths and open fire are just some of the highlights. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend glamping.
