About Zeffer Cider
Our cider making journey began in 2008 with Sam and Hannah throwing in their day jobs with the (some said crazy) idea to craft real New Zealand cider from freshly crushed apples in a small shed in Matakana.
The first ever batch of Zeffer was sold at their local Farmers’ Market to rave reviews. It was so popular they began stocking a few local stores and soon the word spread far and wide about just how good their cider was. And so, the team grew a bit bigger, tanks grew a bit bigger and eventually we moved Zeffer to Hawke’s Bay – the home of sunshine and apples!
We’re proud of our small team and the calibre of cider we’re producing – real, all-natural cider crafted by a few friends from the best ingredients. We’ve experimented with flavours, won awards (including the World’s Best Cider in 2017) and shown the world just how good New Zealand cider can be.
Zeffer is now pouring in all corners of the globe and every drop begins its journey at our cidery.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Can I give this place a 10/5 please? It’s amazing! We randomly saw it on our drive back to Bay of Plenty. I’ve had their beer here but didn’t know they weren’t based in the Bay of Plenty. So happy we found them! Bought three growlers filled with beer. Everything was SO tasty! I am in love with the Apple crumble cider! Such a chill place. We wish we lived closer so we could come every weekend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Actually heaven on earth. Highly recommend staying next door at Meadowood if you can so you can just walk over. The lawn at Zeffer is a fantastic place to chill and play lawn games with a paddle or a glass of delicious cider. You can grab a chopping board and create your own cheese board with salami and breads too. There's even a 0% alcohol version of their crisp apple cider which is super tasty so your sober driver definitely won't feel left out or hard done by! Great to visit when they have events with live music and food trucks. Lots of flagons and cans to stock up and take home. Well priced. Family friendly. Lovely, clean facilities, super friendly and helpful staff. Loved it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The cider here is delicious. Even the zero alcohol drop. Friendly hosts. Great location. Decent food is the only thing missing for me (if there'd been some, I would have had another drink). A food truck perhaps if there is no space for a kitchen? I came here with a group of Ebike riders. And we were served promptly and politely. Thanks for the great experience.
