★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was quoted a rather high amount at my usual mechanics for brake repair (when brakes were repaired only 8 months prior). A friend suggested Midas and they did not disappoint! Not only did they charge much much less than the previous mechanic, but the team are extremely professional and so timely- they agreed to see me the very next day! Thank you Gabriel and the team :)

I took my Ute in there for a basic wheel bearing replacement. Thinis lied to me on a number of occasions and even had the cheek to slash one of my tyres on the front passenger side after i layed a complaint with head office. They were brand new mud terrains and were not cheap!
I am appalled at the bahaviour of these mechanics. He didn’t just replace the bearing he replaced the entire whee hub and charged me $400 for it. I called motex who supplied him with the hub and asked how much they charged him and it was under $250 so he added on his own little fee for getting the part. I could have just as easily got the part and saved myself $150.
And he charged me $20 for greasing the bearing. An entire containter of grease is less than $20 and he would have used a fraction of a containers worth of grease on my bearing.
DODGY MECHANICS AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Head office has done nothing whatsoever to help me through this dodgy business.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been customer here for years and did my wof and services and corresponding repairs here. I was always happy with the prompt service and good communication. I need the car everyday so this is very important for me.
Unfortunately I have to say that this has changed to the worst and I won't be coming back here. It started with roughly four month ago I left the car for a tyre change and a few other bits and pieces. I was told if I leave it at 7am it would be one of the first in the queue and it wouldn't take as long. So I did. At 2pm, not having heard anything I rang them and was told that somebody was about to have a look now (after 7 hours), and call me back shortly.
I understand if its busy but at least call and let people know!!!
After another 1.3 hours I rang them again and got told that the part they need needs to come from aussie and if I wanted the tyre changed today as it was already late. I got quite angry and told them "yes, that's why I left the car at 7am!!!". Anyhow they did it in the end and I got the car back at 4.30pm. They told me that the office lady hadn't been there and it was slightly chaotic so I though "ok, can happen".
I booked a wof a week ago for today and told the guy that I'm coming home from the wairarapa and will drop off the car in te early afternoon. Which he replied "no worries".
I show up at 1pm and the lady at the desk asks me what I wanted.
I said I've got the car booked for a wof. She replied that their preferred dropof time is between 7 and 9 and they can't help me until in a week. I was baffled. Not only because I've clearly communicated on the phone before that I was coming at this time, but also because of who rude I was simply sent away without apology or trying to solve the situation.
I hope nobody else has these kind of experiences but i surely won't be back here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Midas Newtown customers for 13 years but last three occasions rudeness, unprofessional and negativity encountered at their reception. Unacceptable customer service which unfortunately lets the whole team down. Thought it personal until other people and garages (unprompted) mentioned how bad it was.
After 13 years repeat custom we broke down and had our car towed there for help only to be met by rudeness at reception and told wouldn't be seen for two weeks.
We had to rearrange another tow to Brendon Foot to get help, whose service btw is second to none and professional. Midas you're first point of contact becomes your reputation..shame as we had had good experiences with your mechanics but this type of "unwelcome' is now commonplace and has to be experienced (or rather not) to be believed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lady that works in reception is rude, unapologetic, and not helpful at all. We were a couple of hours late for drop off, and she sent us away saying that they can't book us in for another two weeks. We explained we weren't told a drop off time, and that the reminder text did not state a specific time. Her reason was that if we dropped it off at 9am they would have time to order in the parts, that supposedly would have arrived that afternoon and then the repairs would all be done on the same day, which makes no sense as we had quite a lot of work to get done on it, and it would have taken more then a day to complete the work. Dont use Midas Newtown, they have no common decency and dont care about their customers.
