About Mission Heights Junior College

Today, the Ministry of Education sent information for schools to share with their communities regarding the wearing of face masks and other public health measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. The Ministry strongly recommends that face masks be worn in all indoor settings at schools where practicable for the first four weeks of term 3. A limited supply of face masks is available for students who forget or lose their face masks during the day.

Students who already have an exemption need not reapply however others may request one by following the link below.

The FitnessGram PACER Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The test is used to measure a student's aerobic capacity as part of the FitnessGram assessment. Students run back and forth as many times as they can, each lap signaled by a beep sound.

The iPhone is a line of smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. These devices use Apple's iOS mobile operating system. The first-generation iPhone was announced by then-Apple CEO Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007. Since then, Apple has annually released new iPhone models and iOS updates. As of November 1, 2018, more than 2.2 billion iPhones had been sold. The iPhone has a user interface built around a multi-touch screen. It connects to cellular networks or Wi-Fi, and can make calls, browse the web, take pictures, play music and send and receive emails and text messages. Since the iPhone's launch further features have been added, including larger screen sizes, shooting video, waterproofing, the ability to install third-party mobile apps through an app store, and many accessibility features. Up to iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, iPhones used a layout with a single button on the front panel that returns the user to the home screen. Since iPhone X, iPhone models have switched to a nearly bezel-less front screen design with app switching activated by gesture recognition. The iPhone is one of the two largest smartphone platforms in the world alongside Android, forming a large part of the luxury market. The iPhone has generated large profits for Apple, making it one of the world's most valuable publicly traded companies. The first-generation iPhone was described as "revolutionary" and a "game-changer" for the mobile phone industry and subsequent models have also garnered praise. The iPhone has been credited with popularizing the smartphone and slate form factor, and with creating a large market for smartphone apps, or "app economy". As of January 2017, Apple's App Store contained more than 2.2 million applications for the iPhone.

The Boeing 747-400 is a wide-body airliner produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, an advanced variant of the initial Boeing 747. The "Advanced Series 300" was announced at the September 1984 Farnborough Airshow, targeting a 10% cost reduction with more efficient engines and 1,000 nmi (1,850 km) more range. Northwest Airlines (NWA) became the first customer with an order for 10 aircraft on October 22, 1985. The first 747-400 was rolled out on January 26, 1988, and made its maiden flight on April 29, 1988. Type certification was received on January 9, 1989, and it entered service with NWA on February 9, 1989. It retains the 747 airframe, including the 747-300 stretched upper deck, with 6 ft (1.8 m) winglets. The 747-400 offers a choice of improved turbofans: the Pratt & Whitney PW4000, General Electric CF6-80C2 or Rolls-Royce RB211-524G/H. Its two-crew glass cockpit dispenses with the need for a flight engineer. It typically accommodates 416 passengers in a three-class layout over a 7,285 nmi (13,490) km range with its 875,000 lb (397 t) MTOW. The first -400M combi was rolled out in June 1989. The -400D Domestic for the Japanese market, without winglets, entered service on October 22, 1991. The -400F cargo variant, without the stretched upper deck, was first delivered in May 1993. With an increased MTOW of 910,000 lb (410 t), the extended range version entered service in October 2002 as the -400ERF freighter and the -400ER passenger version the following month. Several 747-400 aircraft have undergone freighter conversion or other modifications to serve as transports of heads of state, YAL-1 laser testbed, engine testbed or the Cosmic Girl air launcher. The Dreamlifter is an outsize cargo conversion designed to move Dreamliner components. With 694 delivered over the course of 20 years from 1989 to 2009,[3] it was the best-selling 747 variant. Its closest competitors were the smaller McDonnell Douglas MD-11 trijet and Airbus A340 quadjet. It has been superseded by the stretched and improved Boeing 747-8, introduced in October 2011. In the late 2010s, older 747-400 passenger aircraft were being phased out by airlines in favor of long-range, wide-body twin engine aircraft, such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350. In 2021, China Airlines celebrated the retirement of its final passenger 747-400, which was also amongst the last delivered aircraft sixteen years earlier.[4][importance?]

Going to mhjc was the worst decision I’ve ever made. First year was alright but then I realised I haven’t even learnt anything. Teachers r disrespectful and never admit they r wrong which is why a lot of students talk back. Very biased and never put 100% of their effort into learning. U would always get told off for something u didn’t do, plus the kitchen has a lot of broken stuff yet they still spend their money on useless stuff like cover over the court. Leaving MHJC finally, never felt happy in my life.

I do not go to this school. I only come here to play soccer with my friends at this school on the field. The thing I do not like about this school and would not recommend anyone going to is that it does not follow the New Zealand curriculum. I am currently at a college as a year (do not want to say because that would give information about me) and I asked my other friends at another college and they say they did the exact same thing which goes for every other college. Over here in mission height they do their own things. Year 7-10, their own grading system which doesn’t make sense, a junior college (every school in New Zealand is primary. Intermediate. High school or college. And University. Where did you get this label from). I read a review that said primary work. For year 7 to 8 I can’t complain so many intermediates are like that year 9-10 is where I strongly disagree because you aren’t getting kids ready for Ncea you aren’t teaching kids what you have to teach them. When I was a year 9 we did topic on a healthy living. So many research assessments on heart, respitory system and more, every college is supposed to do that but you have your own ways. Don’t be surprised to see that the kids here are going to fail ncea. I strongly recommend the owners of this school to change its curriculum and switch it to the New Zealand. So kids can get the brighter future they need.

Sometimes teachers are rude and cannot understand students at all. Sometimes when I need to go the bathroom for privacy issues, we are forced to stay in class and are expected to always ask when we go to the toilet, I’m sorry to the teachers that my bladder decides to fill up during class and not lunchtime, again I’m sorry that was my fault I should have a schedule for going toilet. Sorry that I talked to my friends during class cause I needed help, instead of asking the person next to me I should walk all the way to your desk or wait for you to come back inside the classroom. Sorry that I took my phone out during lunch time because I needed to make an important call, again I should’ve went to you and asked to use the whanau services to call my parents and making things complicated very complicated.I think that teachers have to understand that we can’t always tell them everything and sometimes we do things because we need to, students aren’t babies anymore we know ourselves better than you so please Don’t act like you know everything. I hope a teacher reads this and this is just from my experience, this is just not for hate to this school or Anything but is something many students feel.

The experiences I've had with the school was great. The school offers a vast number of new and unique opportunities for the kids and is a great school for in class and out of class learning. My child was able to go on 5 different camps in 2 years. Most teachers are amazing and really help the kids learn, but my child did say that there were a few teachers that didn't involve themselves with the students and their learning and were rude to kids when they were unsure about something. overall the school is a great place to send your kids.
