Good GPs but they charged me an extra $40 or $45 ‘new patient admin fee’ when I returned from overseas even though I’ve been a patient there for well over 20 years, since I was a child. Total bill for one 15 minute visit for a straight forward referral $92.00 !!! They couldn’t explain how they justified that extra fee and got very defensive when I questioned it… it’s expensive enough as it is to visit the doctor in Auckland and gouging long-term patients with random unjustified fees is pretty questionable behaviour in my book. Found another highly rated practice that not only won’t charge me this ‘new patient’ fee but will actually give me my first appointment free!

Awful administrative service and even worst medical attention. Physiotherapist that barely put a hand on me but yet, he has convinced himself after 2 appointments that, somehow, I was doing better (???) Of course, I ended up going to another physiotherapist. GP Dr Gareth considers that if you suffer high blood pressure and take medication on a daily basis, 200 or 220 and chest pain are not so bad as you and the worldwide medical community think. Awesome ?? (and they have the nerve to invoicing this ridiculous conversation over the phone as “medical attention “. ) Administrative staff send invoices 2 or even 3 months after your appointment. Reception staff seems doing you a favor every time they pick up the phone and forget they will call you back every time they say that. It will just not happen. Blood test? It will cost you a fortune and you may have to come back to do it again cause blood went to wrong containers. Oops. Dr. Liz Catherwood so far has been professional and caring person with me but that’s it, she is the only good thing I can say about this place.

This is probably the first negative review I’ve given. I was booked for appointment twice and had to wait 30minutes to 1hr in both instances. I wasn’t informed of the delay and had to ask them myself after 45 minutes of waiting. Another instance called to ask for some information over the phone and one of nurses was talking down to me in a condescending manner. Except for one of the doctors being very kind and helpful I haven’t really had any nice experience to share. The consultation fee is also not worth it given having to wait that long and not being treated very kindly. Enrolling to a new practice as I feel disheartened having MEMC to rely on.

1 star for phone service. 2 stars for availability of doctors when you need it. 3 stars nurses which put up with all the calls and remember to call back. 4 stars for prescription reviews and getting it when needed and also finalizing medical certificates. 5 stars to the amazing doctors that I have at the MEMC

This doctors always run appointments 20-30 minutes late so you need to always accommodate for this. One appointment I told them when booking I really had to be on time as I had an important meeting I couldn’t move. They said yes. The day of appointment I emailed two hours before asking if their appointments were running late as I really couldn’t be late. They replied saying it was fine. We’ll here I am standing outside 35 minutes after my appointment time with a 15 month old who is losing it (we are having to wait out front too near a main road where there is no gate - anyone with a toddler will know how hard it is containing them for this long!) when I went in to check on my appointment they were incredibly rude even though I really couldn’t have been politer. The whole thing is quite shocking. They clearly don’t value peoples times or understand some mothers are working also and can’t wait around for an hour before their appointment.

I scheduled an urgent doctor call back Heard nothing back, followed up twice Tried to book online, portal has changed without notice so I cannot book Called back again, reception were deliberately difficult, taking over me whenever I provided info to create the new login My doctor is good, but time to move on. Totally broken urgent care risks patient safety

The staff are generally lovely, but appointment availability and wait times leave something to be desired, and I wasn't always satisfied with the quality of care I received. Despite having a note on my record and previously receiving doses in the same way, nurses would refute me and/or confirm with colleagues before administering injections the way I requested. One doctor didn't discuss an abnormal blood test with me until prompted (during an appointment for an unrelated condition a week after the results were received), and another failed to request certain tests before referring me to a specialist. Most importantly, it was incredibly difficult to repeat prescriptions for controlled drugs as the practice requires they be collected in person, though this isn't a legal requirement. My new practice sends all scripts electronically.
