This was an awesome walk - keep in mind because it is Spring, the walkway is VERY muddy still. We did contemplate turning around in some particularly bad places but made it through and the view was definitely worth it. It took about 1 hour up and 45 mins down. A decent level of fitness is required because of the uphill but not too strenuous. Wear good shoes that you are happy to get muddy if you are going in Winter or Spring, but otherwise a nice walk. There isn't a heap of parking though.

Wow what an incredible walk im very unfit and chronic astmatic but i did it took me and my brother 3 and half hours with lots of mini rest and stops to take photos 500 plus staris going up threw the bush was pritty step hard on the legs and then making our way to the very top we did get side track and went around a hill coz we didnt see the marker that was pushed over but we got back on track. One thing that would be cool to see is a big sign post pointing out to all the other locations such as the steal mill pukekawa hill ect deffinatly not a walk for the children ? we got to meet the lovely farmer who owns half of the walk lovely man. Hopefully next time i take this walk ill be alot more fitter.

Great walk but you need a decent level of fitness to complete it. There's a heck of a lot of stairs with a steady incline to the summit. Older kids would probably manage (10yrs +). Take a water bottle and snacks with you, it's about an hour 1 way. There's also minimal shade at the summit so take a sunhat and sunscreen if your going in summer. Amazing 360° views so make sure you go on a clear, sunny day to make the hike worth it! I probably won't be able to walk up stairs or sit on the toilet by tomorrow. Pray for me ? Apart from that minor detail, it was a great hike and well worth the dreaded cardio work out that no one wants.

Tests your endurance while climbing up but once you reach the top, it’s amazing!

Walk was nice from McMillan road. Quite steep and open in some places. Make sure to put plenty of sunblock to protect your skin. Shaded areas/The bush had stairs, which were newish and tracks were very well-maintained. Views from the top were refreshing. Would highly recommend going early to get a parking space. No toilets in the area.

If you like stairs, then this is the place for you. 2 days later and my legs are still jelly lol. I believe there's just over 500 stairs??? and then there's the walk up hill?? Best time to go is in the morning when it's a bit cooler otherwise, wear sunblock cause the heat is no joke once you're out of the forest. Overall, this was a lovely walk.

What a incredible walk! From the walk to the Forrest from car park it’s like you’re stepping into Jamangi or Jurassic Park, it’s stunning and all up hill from there! Once you get through the Forrest, it’s all open farm land and hopefully the cows will greet you! (They are all scaredy-cats) Keep following the orange polls up the hill and eventually you will reach the top! AMAZING VIEWS :) there are no toilets ? so come empty!
