β β β β β Not impressed. I was in the market for a new Surtees, met up with the sales person and went through the specs we wanted. After a week waiting for the quote i then had to contact them to chase it up. After lots of apologies they got back with the price, so I then said price was ok but can i have a list of all the specs to do a final check. Never heard back from them again! I then went elsewhere and bought a new McLay. Those guys treated me with respect, answered ALL my questions and did a great dealer-client job. Be prepared for very poor communication from Mr Boats. However I should not have been that surprised because a mate bought a new Surtees off Mr Boats and the first thing he said was they are very poor communicators and frustrating to deal with! Mr Boats needs to lift its game, or Surtees need to use another dealer in chch.

β β β β β Outstanding service from the parts department - my son was piloting out wee inflatable with a 2.5 hp mercury outboard and struck a few stones - as a result the propeller break away pin broke - the service staff searched the part number and checked the storeroom and could not see the part required so called to see if the listed part number was current. it had been updated and hen then searched and located the correct part. Very good service for a simple $20 part. Thanks heaps.

β β β β β Nice modern parts and accessories department much better than the old one, but a very poor display of accessories and you need to ask for what you want, but it is amazing what they have hidden away and out of sight. I think they could do a lot better with the waisted space

β β β β β I have visited this boat yard on several occasions over the years and had similar experiences on each occassion.
As a female boatie I found the sales man rude and dismissive and consequently I walked away not spending my 25k on any of their boats.
If you work hard for your money I would recommend not spending it with people who are so offensive, go to a yard where people have manners and give you respect.

β β β β β Bought a boat from these guys. I am not sure they actually know much about boats though. The trailer was set up wrong and had parts missing causing damage to the boat. Cost to me. The boat wasn't seaworthy. Carburetor was full of water. On first start and I had to get it serviced. Cost me thousands. No help from these crooks. Useless

β β β β β Boat is good. The trailer wheels it came on weren't road worthy and shouldn't have had a warrant. Found out when I was down in Hawea and the wheel had broke with my family in the car. The spare wasn't for the boat. Back in Christchurch with Mr boats, no cares given or even apology.

β β β β β DONβT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY - In January 2021 we ordered and paid a $5000 deposit on a Mercury 150hp boat motor from Mr Boats with the understanding (due to Covid) that they would hold a motor for us until our new boat was completed. We have an email from Mr Boats stating they had a motor available and if we paid deposit it was ours. Due to covid delays our boat build is now finishing in 2 weeks. Several times over the year we contact Mr Boats to confirm when boat would be completed and they were happy to keep motor for us - we even offered to pay more $ if needed but they were happy.
In January 2022 we finally had word that our boat was being started so contacted Mr Boats who said they were just going through their orders and did we still want the motor and of course we said yes, and they said great no problem, just let us know nearer to boat completion time so they can arrange a date for fitting. At this time, they did not communicate to us that there was any issue with supplying the motor.
Two weeks ago we contacted Mr Boats to arrange a date and were informed that there was no boat motor for us and the best they could do is arrange for our deposit to be returned. After numerous telephone conversation and several emails the answer is still the same, to return deposit. We asked a friend to contact Mr Boats regarding supplying a Mercury 150hp motor and they replied "We would not be able to supply until Q3 2022" and "You would need to order one, maybe Jun/July". We explained to Mr Boats we would be prepared to wait a couple of months but apparently they cant supply it for us.
We suspect they do not want to supply us with a new motor due to the contract being a few thousand less than they are selling the motor for now in 2022. In a recent phone conversation we were also informed that Mr Boats would fulfil their end of the agreement (as they should) but the following day we were informed, sorry we don't have a motor.
We will definitely never ever deal with Mr Boats again. We never received an apology and the people we dealt with have terrible customer service.

β β β β β Sales man was ridiculously rude and because my partner didnβt fit the β look β of someone with money for a nice boat we were told to leave without even being able to have a look around. By the looks of other reviews weβve dodged a bullet. Wouldnβt recommend at all, many other great places in Christchurch to go to
