The sign said β€œWorld Famous Sausage rolls” - that wasn’t hype they are the best ever (Sorry Mum). Great coffee, great food.

Unfortunately the other places down the road were closed so this was the only option. Facilities and quality of food was extremely average. This is one of those places that will charge you extra for tomato sauce with a 6 or 7 dollar pie.

After a great day riding over the Takaka Hill, we found a great place little cafe in Riwaka. We stop for a cuppa and when I saw the great looking pies I had to try one. Steak and Mushroom.. a most excellent pie.. nice crust, great filling and no extraneous gravy. It also served a bloody good pot of English Breakfast tea... none of those arty-farty teas with no colour masquerading as proper tea. The pie first was so good I had to try another, even though it means only having an entree for dinner tonight... for the record the second one was chicken and mushroom.. thanks for the great hospitality Mrs Smiths Cafe in Riwaka... last place on the right, going north

Best pies in the whole Tasman area, hands down. I got the smoked fish pie and a tomato sauce. The lady said I wouldn't need the t sauce, thus making me spend less money! She was right. It didn't need anything. The pastry is short and crispy, not doughy at all. The fillings are absolutely to die for. I could tell by the range of pies that they knew what they were doing. I wanted a chicken and mushroom too but my wife told me not to be a little piglet. Instead she graciously allowed me a bite of her sausage roll which sounds like a euphemism but is actually just the glorious truth. This is the Fairlie Bakehouse of the North. Outstanding customer service, highly recommended
