Harakeke Hut was really great. Hot tub is ideal after skiing. Claudine and Ross were super helpful hosts. I loved being off the grid and the kitchen dining area has everything you need. Good location, nice comfy accommodation. We'll go back!

Just spent a lovely weekend in Corsican Lodge. The house was perfect for families sharing. Kids loved the bedroom they could all sleep in together. This house has a great outside lawn area for kids to play outside. Another great weekend in Mt Lyford. Will be back next summer ☺️

Stayed at the Kowhai Lodge with my daughters. Claudine was a lovely host and given Mt Lyford had the lowest high temperatures for consecutive days while we were there, the home was toastie warm and fully equipped with everything we needed. Spa was awesome and my youngest loved the park/trampoline. Amazing views, very comfy stay!

Great stay at the harakeke huts, had the whole place to ourselves which made it even better. The hot tub was wonderful and just what we needed. The place is kept wonderfully clean and well presented. Hosts were even more amazing and went the extra mile to help us when we got a flat tyre at the bottom of the road, so nice to have hosts who care about their patrons :)

MUST READ TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT! This is the FIRST NEGATIVE REVIEW IN MY LIFE because I couldn't resist myself from posting this. We were 5 of us (4 adults and 1 infant) who stayed at the TOP SHELF cabin for 1 night. The entire cabin was very untidy and most of the furniture are torn and the pillow covers are not even washed. We could feel the dust everywhere and we were reluctant to use them. When we started to cook, we had to thoroughly wash each utensil because they were not at all clean. After noticing that, we rang their office and informed them how poor the conditions were. One of their staff came to us and she started to blame us. She showed the worst hospitality service ever. She told us that it was our fault chosing their basic cabin and we should have read in the website. Cheap doesn't mean untidy right? We told her that this was the only one available at the time of booking and $160 per night is not that cheap,of course. We were not expecting luxury but basic cleanliness. When we asked for a face tissue box, she pointed out to an old dusty bunch of paper roll kept on the top of kitchen cabinet. There was only 1 rubbish bin in the entire lodge(that too only in the kitchen and not even a single one in the toilet) and we have to carry the waste back home. Don't you think this is ridiculous? She didn't even apologize for the inconvenience caused, which is the basic etiquette of any customer service. She was pretty much saying that " we have no right to complain because we are staying in their basic lodge. So just accept what is available ". She told that the guests are supposed to clean before they leave and they can't come and clean each lodge. Seriously?? Are we supposed to  book a place expecting that the previous guests will prep the place for us???How could she even say that so irresponsibly? They should at least make sure that the place is tidied up for their guests. We are completely unhappy about her attitude and regret booking this place. Yes, the views are stunning but you can't spend 1 whole night looking outside, right? We have traveled many places in NZ and this is the first bad experience.  Even the cheapest backpackers are far far better than this. We have stayed in their Manuka lodge before and  have recommended to many of our friends. But if this is the attitude of their staff, I am forced to share this experience to them because I don't want to disappoint any of them trusting my words.

We loved the little log cabin ‘Top Shelf’. It had everything we needed and the table tennis set and selection of dvds were perfect for the rainy day. It was lovely and cosy. It even had a homemade golf course. The watering hole was lovely and refreshing for a swim when the sunshine finally appeared and only a short walk to get there. Mt Lyford has magical views and is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature.

Wicked little cabin in the woods. Our cabin is Dog friendly so it gets 4 stars. Very rustic - that's just how I like it. Everything is old in this cabin and awesome. Beautiful view, great fireplace and surrounded by beech trees with black sooty mould on them. The bedrooms were very cold with no way to heat them so be prepared for that! There was a lot of built up dust also the place needs a good deep clean especially the walls. Going when the ski hill is closed gives you limited options for things to do as there is nothing around except a few hikes. It's still a nice quiet getaway from the city though. I have the beers cracked and the fire on, it's good and relaxing!

Our family made a last minute booking and had a fantastic time at Mt Lyford. We stayed at the Top Shelf cabin which is located high on Mt Lyford and close to the walking tracks. The cabin was clean and had lots of games to keep our family entertained. A real 'kiwi bach' in style, it was comfortable and suited our family of 4 perfectly. There is a putt putt course, a climbing wall inside and a swing. Vistas aplenty. We had such an enjoyable stay!!
