★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wonderful multicultural community that warmly welcomes everyone, muslims, non-muslims and interested members of the public. Fantastic halaqa's run by inspirational sisters and brothers. I have learned more about Islam through joining this community than I have travelling in the middle east.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nissa invited me to her room shown as Islamic Centre!. Here family were there. Never felt an Islamic faith over there.. never returned. My recommendation is to never go there. She tries hard to distract Nelson Muslim Community to her side! Very sad!

We are well travelled muslims within New Zealand and have found the Nelson muslim community the most welcoming family, inclusive and kind. Oozing with a harmonious and peaceful mix of cultures from all walks of life; a TRUE representation of the face of Islam. It was refreshing to join a community that value the male as well as female input to reflect the full needs of the community. Our personal initial contact was with Nissa who has proven to be a very supportive sister, capable of many good things, a woman to draw ample examples from.
They hosted a beautiful gathering for iftar inviting people from the wider Nelson community and also providing divine food for all who attended. What a gesture during the most sacred muslim month, MASHALLAH! May Allah swt continue to guide their vision and endeavours, a real inspiration for other muslim communities. In Shaa'Allah my family and I will continue to be a part of this community even after we move.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Several members of Multicultural Nelson Tasman recently attended the Iftar celebration at the Nelson Islamic Centre. What a wonderful warm and welcoming group of Muslims! We all gained a deeper appreciation and understanding of Ramadan. Thank you to all the Muslims for sharing your faith, your friendship and your incredibly delicious food with the Nelson/Tasman communities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Nelson Islamic Centre, one of two Islamic Centres in Nelson, is an ideal place to pray or to meet fellow Muslims, any time in the day, men or women. Children are especially welcome and many families bring their kids along to play while the adults pray. Women can pray openly behind the men or in seclusion in an adjoining room, if they prefer. I especially appreciate Friday Prayers as there is a dynamic young Egyptian delivering the Khutbah, offering very relevant modern topics, but always relating them to the Quran and Hadith. Newcomers are always welcome, especially visiting students and refugees. It has a wonderful airy position, overlooking the Nelson Market and should be a 'must visit' for any Muslim passing through Nelson.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A safe, comfortable and inviting space. The warmth and welcome from everyone here makes it easy to want to return. Super family friendly, the children can learn, join in prayers and activities at their own pace. Enjoy how everyone is able to contribute within their own capacities, the inclusiveness of all people, men, women, children of many backgrounds and how people of different faiths or no particular faith are also valued and welcomed. Adds a wonderful, interesting dynamic where all can exchange dialogue, understanding and benefit from each other.
