Did not actually get to stay because the customer service was poor. I left two enquiry phone messages with an rnquiry. No one came back to me. I have booked elsewhere.

What can I say. We showed up at midday and Nancy wasn’t there - checking was meant to be at 3 so we left some messages with her and went to get lunch. When we came back at 3 she had responded and we let ourselves in. The house is large with some interesting decor - our room looked like it was furnished in the 80s and was facing where the parking was with old white curtains - not much privacy from other guests arriving. When I took the acrylic blankets off the bed there was a dead moth under my pillow. Apart from that the house was really clean. No where in the booking did it say we were sharing a bathroom with another 2 rooms. So that was a nice surprise. The bathroom was large and clean but I am 20 weeks pregnant and during covid this should have written in the booking! When Nancy arrived she was super transactional and not very warm. We had already signed in using the covid tracker ap which was ironic when you don’t mention the bathroom is shared! Just showed us the fridge and communal kitchen and the bathroom. We ended up letting In some other guests in as she was not on the property earlier so she showed them around as well. She then started cooking pig trotters in her kitchen with rice and since all the bedrooms come off the kitchen area our bedroom started to smell. Nothing against the cuisine but not really appropriate of a host to do this without talking to the guests ( the house was fully booked) and also I’m pregnant so that was icing on the cake for me. We left as soon as we could and went to have dinner in Tutukaka. When we returned the communal bathroom had been used by another guest and was wet from a shower, the toilet seat had hairs on it and the host was sleeping on the couch in the communal living room which was strange. We tried to get to sleep as soon as possible were tired from all the driving coming up from Auckland that day however there was an outdoor light triggered by movement ( in this case the properties chickens) and our curtains were white so there was no effect having them closed. This kept us up. I slept about 3 hours until the roosters started in the morning at 6 am. Needless to say we packed up and left by 6.30 and truly this was one of the worst accomodation experiences I have booked in New Zealand. Would not recommend this $158 a night. The host has also blocked us being able to put reviews on booking which is why I am writing on here. Do not be fooled by the great reviews on there are I have a feeling she is being selective who she allows to comment.
