★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pool was the best part. Shared bathroom was dirty. Approached the place & was offered only "what was available" (2 dorm beds) left the premises & rang in to ask the same question & got a private room straight away. Definitely got what we paid for.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ By far my favorite hostel in nz! Spend more then 8 months in total there and would come back any time.
Big kitchen nice outside area pool jauzzi and tennis court always available to use. Manager and staff are absolutely amazing it’s the perfect hostel sourrunded by the beautiful bay of islands. Definitely recommend it !!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The photo taken was the view from room 4 window, however the bathroom is quiet dirty and the motel next door is known for playing music all night. They do however have a wonderful swimming pool and spa, you also have access to the local tennis next door.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have stayed in many hostels around the world and this hostel was below average. As mentioned earlier the bathrooms are horrible. I m a very laid back person myself when it comes to cleanliness but I was disgusted and wanted to leave as soon as possible. The drains were locked so you could see what the other person did before you. The rooms were extremely small and our room was facing the car park . So much noise that I had to sleep in the car. The people who were sleeping in rooms facing the courtyard were also complaining about the noise so don’t stay here guys. Better stay in your car or elsewhere

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome pool, nice beds and some of the nicest showers in a hostel ever! HOWEVER when the clock stroke 12 our room mate and their acquaintance (who we assume came from a bar) entered our room while we were trying to sleep. The usual polite whispers seemed normal UNTIL they became more like panting. This kept going (off and on) until 5am!!! Both impressive and irritating!!!
Never before have I felt so uncomfortable, tired and and impressed being in a hostel room. Such a shame as the kitchen was really good and the overall stay would be 4.5* otherwise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is an awesome hostel! Everybody is super chill including the staff and especially a manager. I stayed here long-term and therefore also got a super price per night! They offer a lot of things including a pool (in a hostel!). The kitchen was nice but maybe a little stuffed at rush hour. I would love to give 5 stars but the service in the long term stays was non-existent :'D . It was no problem for me but it would have been nice if our in room kitchen would have been cleaned or the garbage changed. But we justed used the public kitchen so it was alright! Definitely the place to stay for longer times in Paihia ( also party every night ;-) )

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked an apartment at Steve's place which was part of a backpackers hostel. It is in a good location about 10 minutes walk to central Paihia. However, we experienced several problems with our two bedroom apartment. There were cockroaches everywhere in the bedroom and and in the living room during the night. I would advise you to keep all the doors and windows closed which was awful for us as it was so hot when we visited. There was no air conditioning and not even a standing fan. The carpet was also stained in multiple places and the leather couch in the photos have been replaced with two very cheap dirty couches. We accidentally dropped our phone down the sides of the couch and when we went to get it, it was filthy and had stuffing coming out. The toilet also does not flush properly unless you wait a long time for the water to fill up again (which took an extremely long time). This was gross as there was 7 of us staying there. The cutlery and some of the pots were also stained/had bits of food stuck in it. The wifi was also extremely slow with bad signal from our apartment. One more thing to note, the hostel is located close to a loud bar/club which was had loud music playing on Saturday night past 12am. We let Steve know about some of the problems mentioned here but he never responded. Overall this place needs a lot of work done on it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A really good hostel. Clean, a good kitchen with lots of space to eat when the weather is nice and a really good price. Pool area open till 10, didn't use it that often as the sea is really close as well, still a great place to spend your free time! Showers are very old and sometimes cold.
