★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Like taking a university paper, minus the eye watering fees, externally imposed deadlines, and low value fillers. The feedback was succinct, specific and illuminating. Furthermore, Helen Brain was so encouraging and approachable, which really took the anxiety out of a one on one interaction with an expert in their field. I found the course so useful I signed up for Advanced Creative Writing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Proofreading and Copy-editing - The overall experience was excellent, from my initial discussion with Koos about the course, through the modules and exercises to my completion. I found NZ Writers College to be a professional business with knowledgeable helpful staff, especially my awesome tutor Rosemary. There were times when I felt out of my depth but Rosemary encouraged me through.

Di, my tutor, gave great feedback and encouragement on my assessments. Overall, it has improved my skills and I would highly recommend it to anyone who was thinking of pursuing an editing career.

Paul is patient, knowledgeable and helpful. His feedback is prompt and detailed, which improves my worldbuilding and character development skills significantly.

The assignments are practical, and along with the feedback from my tutor, Sonny Whitelaw, they helped me transform my writing style. Sonny was brilliant - loved her perceptive feedback, her humour, and her practical tips on how to strengthen my plotting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ NZ Writers College is a fantastic place to begin or continue your writing journey. I completed the Introduction to Poetry course (with fabulous tutor, Arja Salafranca.) I was a poetry novice - all I knew is that I love to write! This course helped me to hone my craft in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I saw my initial drafts turning into shining publication-worthy gems. This course has done wonders for my confidence as a writer. I am even considering sending in work that I produced for publication (a dream of mine!) Thanks to the team that made it happen, I would definitely recommend this course.
