★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was like a nursery for the seal pups with rock pools full of them. Adults were out collecting food I guess. I was so mesmerized by the babies that I had to be dragged away after watching their antics for ages. Just put a smile on your face.

There is a small track on the other side of the road if you want to go to a small waterfall. This track is officially closed because of an earthquake but you can do it, just be careful for two reasons: some seals can be around and some part of the track are slippery

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The improvements to this scenic drive and this particular spot to park and take a walk safely or watch the New Zealand fur seals sunning themselves is fabulous.
I have driven this stretch of road numerous times over the years, and the work that they have done to make it easier for tourists is wonderful.
I highly recommend the drive from Marlborough down the coast to Christchurch.
