The whole place is overwhelmed by the population it covers, as a result the reception is over worked and consequently often rude or off hand. The doctor I see is good but you are lucky to see him within 10 days and recently that applied to any doctor. The whole place is a dump, over crowded, you are more likely to to come out with more than you went in for!

I have been with this practice for 12yrs, while the doctors, nurses and majority of admin are great professional and caring, the overall experience is dreadful. Practically impossible to get an appointment normally have to wait or book a week in advance. Even when doing this I have had appoinments cancelled by the surgery due to not having a doctor available on the day. I have also had a rude receptionist wrongly tell me to go to hospital rather than give me an appointment. I read a comment in another review about emergency department be overwhelmed I agree with this, this is exactly why when we have such a poor service in a community medical practice. There is no continuity of care as you never know who you will see therefore health issues not always being addressed properly.I understand there is pressure from a growing population but practice manager needs to urgently address this. There are many people in this community who need this service and who are unable to go else where but are denied health care due to poor management. I really hope someone is paying attention to these reviews and is able to make an well overdue and positive change.

Even if the doctors were good at their work in this community medical centre I couldn't get a clue unless you get past the front desk which seems beyond imagination. I'm certain there will be more feedback but would not make a difference until the ladies at the reception are replaced as they seem super racist and least bothered of person walk in, guess even If they are in their last moments they would leave them to die and not admit or register for a consultation. Well, unless I see three positive new comments in this section I would never ever turn myself to this place nor recommend anyone to. Feel sorry for the locals though.

After my doctor left at central family health I decided to move to onerahi medical as it was closer and cheaper. Worst mistake I ever made. You needed to ring in at least 2 days in advance of being sick to make sure you get an appointment. The receptionists are rude as hell as do not acknowledge you while you are waiting to check in. They do not ring you back if you ring in trying to get a script sent out. My doctor barely looked at me and then “web md’d” my symptoms and diagnosed me off that. Which meant I had to keep going back because nothing got better so ended up costing the same if noted re than my old doctors because of repeated visits and prescriptions. When I moved to kamo I changed to northland environmental healthcare and they are amazing.

Onerahi medical centre would do well to look into their administrative staff/front of house. I have been with the practice 5 years and each time I go in , I find the admin to be rude, condescending, and vile in nature. One lady in particular is partial to dropping snide remarks and treating you like dirt, which is not something you need when you are already feeling run down. The clinic itself is a little outdated and run down, but this is reflected in the lower priced fees they offer for services. The Doctors and nurses are helpful, but seemingly more and more hard to get into; often running behind appointments and stretched thin.

I live in Onerahi and have attended Onerahi Medical Centre many times. In the past six years I have found it difficult to get an appointment, even though my Doctor says, if my symptoms get worse, come back in a weeks time and see me. What a laugh that is. If you manage to get hold of the staff on the telephone they do not seem to understand, if a person is ill empathy should be shown. The result is they have no bookings until the following week. If you are a Manage my Health patient and you log in, to my horror I find I will have to wait seven to ten days. Often they will try hard to put me onto a nurse, which is totally useless because nurses are unable to prescribe Antibiotics. So more time in the waiting room to be slotted in. What is the point of logging in to MMH and filling out the reason you think you need a Doctor and it is a bad infection, you still have to wait. NO WONDER EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT WHANGAREI HOSPITAL is a six hour wait. Often I have been referred back to my Doctor, for the whole process to start again. An ambulance has been called instead. Great health system you are operating there at Onerahi Medical Centre. Any new patients my advise is don't bother.

With reluctance I pay a $15 bill for a prescription only half filled because I cannot see a doctor for a month.

Hi I think Doctor Khan is a very caring doctor.i have been to see him a few times now and has always listened and given me very good advice.Clients should always remember Drs are doing their best and sometimes you may have to wait a little as urgent case may come in.i have been a patient at this practice for over twenty years so thanks to all the doctor and nurses who have looked after me.and of course the reception staff cheers Petrina
