★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Owen River Lodge advertises itself as “New Zealand’s finest luxury fishing lodge” and lives up to its promise in spades. Felix and Kylie are gracious and superb hosts. The lodge and the accomodation are luxurious and very clean. In the kitchen, Ryan is a creative master with an eye for detail; even the packed lunches were excellent. We were guided by Stefano who worked extremely diligently on our behalf to put us onto several fish each day; the hardest choice was which river to fish - there are over a couple of dozen to choose from within an hour and a half drive from the lodge.
The first fish (4.5 lbs) was caught on the second cast on opening day; all fish caught over the the three days were larger than this. I even caught one on a dry fly on opening day (this has never happened to me before). Stefano attended closely to our safety at all times.
All in all a well-deserved 5 out 5 score; I’ll be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The accommodation was superb immaculate and clean great views down to the river Main lodge very comfortable with several public rooms. The food was up to Michelin star quality, well done Ryan. The hosts have years of experience and made you feel comfortable. Even though it is a fishing lodge we were on a package that included a Porsche Boxster for the day. It was fun to hear the fishing tales in the evening over dinner. Some amazing photos of massive fish in the hall. Will go back again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Owen River Lodge run an amazing lodge. It’s well set out, clean and extremely tidy and can see why it’s an award winner. While I went for a fish Kimberley went for a mountain bike ride with another guest up the Glenroy Valley. It was an outstanding stay with exceptional food, great wine and company. Congratulations to Felix, Kylie and the team that make your stay memorable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An wonderful stay at ORL. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4nights/3days. Felix and Kylie are wonderful hosts who make you feel relaxed and welcomed, as do the rest of their incredible team. The accommodation is spacious and well laid out. The food is outstanding, thanks to chef Ryan. I went for 3 days fishing and the guides are exceptional as was the fishing! My wife also had a great time relaxing and exploring the area as she did not fish. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My partner and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Owen River Lodge in April of this year (2021). What can I say. The lodge itself is a fantastic country style lodge with fabulous rooms. The main house and dining area is comfortable, Felix & his partner are the most welcoming and friendly couple and will provide everything you could possibly need for a few days of fly fishing. The food is outstanding and the guides are just out of this world. We had the pleasure of being guided by Adam, how he spots the fish is just beyond me, we are keen fishermen/women and just can't believe how amazing these guides are. With something like 39 rivers within a 90 minute drive, you can't go wrong here!! EPIC stay!
What I love the most about this lodge is that the guests all dine together, served by world class chefs, you really get a great understanding of the local area, the lodge and the local fishing are and it's great to chat to the other guests!
Truly awesome stay! I would highly recommend it.

Wow what an experience after 50 years of dreaming about it I finally got to experience a luxury fishing loge and was not disappointed, Felix and Kylie make fantastic hosts relaxed but attentive, Ryan the chef made such amazing meals over all four days and Stefano my guide with skill and MUCH PATIENCE put me onto mutable fish on mutable rivers over three days of fishing and I managed to catch 1 rainbow and two brown trout the smallest being 4.5 lb. These are the first fish I have ever caught fly fishing in my life. I'm definitely going back. 23/10/21 to 27/10/21

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were well pampered, which is what I was after! The food and accommodation were absolutely fantastic. Felix and Kylie looked after us with first-class service, so smooth that it felt like we were part of the family. The chefs Ryan and Jo made amazing food; always a surprise and delicious beyond our dreams.
The fishing guide Felix assigned to us (Adam) was extremely knowledgeable. Two days of fishing resulted in multiple brown trout to the net, including a personal best. Adam was able to provide new insights to John that upskilled his fishing ability. We live locally but would never have found the spots Adam took us to.
We highly recommend the Owen River Lodge. We can't wait to go back there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The lodge was as described providing excellent accommodation in spacious rooms which were well fitted and comfortable. The gardens and setting of the lodge was fantastic and we enjoyed the early summer flowers in the gardens which were well kept.
Kylie and Felix are wonderful hosts who have a thoughtful but fun approach to hosting complimented by wonderful food and a great selection of local wines. It is the detail that sets the lodge apart and the personality of the hosts that we felt made the real difference.
The fishing was excellent with so many different locations to consider so that almost all weather conditions were covered. We enjoyed a guide for 3 days who was thoughtful and caring and really made the whole experience memorable.
