★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm giving Panda Express five stars for friendly service. The husband and wife who I assume own it were really chatty and welcoming. Particularly Mrs Panda Express. We dropped in on the way back to Christchurch after a long tramping trip and ordered fish and chips. And we got just what we hoped for. Lots! It was bulk standard shark and tatie, but good and hit the spot. There was some confusion about one order but Mr Panda Express was very apologetic and keen to correct any error.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've only been in Murchison 3 days in my life. During that time I wanted to find a place that served nice, tasty meals at a reasonable price. Being a creature of habit, I tend to go back again and again if my tastes are satisfied, and I usually order the same thing if I liked it the first time. The first night I went to the corner pub and was not too impressed with their food although I really have no real complaint either. Next, I tried right across the road from my motel: The Panda Xpress, and not only did I get a nice feed that filled the tank completely - I also got great, and intelligent conversation from the guy who fronts the counter. ( Please forgive me for forgetting his name - my memory is getting really bad) - not to mention very good, personalised service to go with it. He's a VERY friendly man who, if you delve beneath any preconceptions you might reach because of his accent, is a real pleasure to sit down and converse with. New Zealand restaurant business people could do well to take a note out of his book on friendly, informative service if they wanted to improve the overall image of their business. I really hope to meet more like him in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ate here in January 2020 on our way to Nelson from Westport. The food was good and the owner was very friendly, kind and helpful. We ate outside at the playground next door (we have small kids who needed to get some energy out) and he brought our food out to us. He also brought some food scraps and gave us directions to the local eel stream -- it was one of the highlights of our trip. Thanks so much!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tony gave some great service and local knowledge! the food was great and a really good burger for the right price. Theres also an awesome playground in the back for the kids to run around on! Really glad we chose this place for dinner while driving through.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They feed four hungry bike packers very well. Big plates of yummy food. Nice casual/relaxed service at a fair price. I went for a burger too big to fit in my mouth the others had plates of lovely Chinese food.
