Pinehurst School - Albany

Great school! Lot's of different people who are all generally nice and the education is amazing. Would send my child here! :D

Best school possible. Education is valued here, which make it a great place for people who want smart kids. Many sports opportunities, Lydia Ko used to come here! Have fun at Pinehurst!

I'd recommend this school to anyone! They push you to your limits and help you learn as much as possible. The staff and teachers are extremely kind.

Awful school The school runs from year 1 to year 13, is supposedly one of the highest achieving academic schools in New Zealand, as well as being one of the most expensive, but is it good? I was a student at the school for almost seven years so I should know In 2017, the school's founding principal, Sherida Penman-Walters, who had had the role since the school was founded in 1991, retired and was replaced by Alex Reid, previously at Westlake Boys High School, he has since implemented some questionable rules and also is trying to increse the size of the school to over one thousand students, which is much more than the seven hundred that the school previously had, getting rid of the school's small-school character. Making the school even worse than it previously was; the school is bad for a number of reasons: Firstly the school has biased punishment, school didn't like me and gave me detentions without reason in intermediate, also the school is full of people who are either extremely wealthy and show off about it; or a large amount of Asian students that don't speak English and students that speak English as a first language (like me) are expected to help them even if we don't speak any Chinese! The school is also now apparently in a poor financial situation after building it's new buildings; a new college block, college 4, as well as many new classrooms in the primary that the school has built on one of the school's fields, and a new library, which is still under construction and is expected to be completed some later this year. The majority of staff at the school, don't treat you well, some treating you like you are much younger than you actually are, like Angela Smith, who treats intermediate and collage students almost as if they are new entrants, as well as the school's "teacher-librarian", the now gone (thank goodness) Fiona Mackie, who reads picture books to senior college students. I would have given the school two stars for them running the Cambridge curriculum, but this, combined with the high fees, causes a large percentage of the students to think that they are superior to students at all other schools. These reasons combined made me leave the school two years ago, this was the best decision of my life to leave this joke of a school behind, and I know many students that still attend the school, but, like me; they are also planning to leave. The other day a few of the students from this school slashed someones tires and mugged an old lady, this is a serious issue and the management need to step up, this school used to be a well respected school and has now evolved into a pool of crime. 0.3/10 would not recommend

The Best School Ever!! Beautiful campus environment, friendly teachers and staffs. Full timetable for online classes during the covid even for primary students. My kids told me, he is enjoying school life.
