★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited during busy peak Xmas/New Year. Cafè was understaffed. Woman before us cancelled her order she was waiting so long. We had to keep asking for our coffees as no one was at the machine. Kitchen staff helped. Coffee was made in a hurry with 'zero' love. Tasted terrible.... didn't go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a lovely little gem of a cafe, every food item we demolished was delicious and felt prepared with care by the staff. Definitely recommend the kumara fries especially, they are on point ? my thai beef salad was perfectly seasoned/dressed and my husband's burger was monster-sized! We went back the next day for a second go and had another successful meal from the cabinet (chicken mushroom pie, and chicken cream cheese roll), along with some more kumara fries to go ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really loved going to Pipers everyday during our visit to Matarangi. The food & coffee was amazing! I also loved the bar, there was live music there one night and we all enjoyed sitting outside having a drink, it’s a great set up. Highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best home made baked goods I've had at a cafe - biggest, yummiest afghans! Best coffee. Tasty pizzas, really good breakfast with quality ingredients. Matarangi is lucky to have this place:)
