★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing lookout spot. You can get here from the Redwoods or find a small detour from the city. From this place you can see the geothermal park, the lake, and the whole city.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To get here, start at the Redwoods I-site and follow the right side of the yellow trail (Pohaturoa trail), which will take you through the magnificent redwood forest, then to a car park, up a road, then some bush before you get to the lookout. Completely worth the 40min walk for amazing views of Rotorua and Pohutu geyser. Pohutu geyser is said to be quite reliable with springing at least every hour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent walk in Rotorua (accessed via yellow red woods track, about 30-45 mins into walk). Great views over the town and lake, and good peeking into the thermal area with it's hot pools and geysers!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You have to pass through this village to get to the track. Even if you don't want to go into this village. The people there won't let you in. This is something I didn't know before coming. Disappointed.sad.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a good 2 hour trek if you do the whole circuit. Don't expect to be in the Redwoods all the time but expect a variety of scrubby bush, beautiful Redwoods, lovely pongas, Fantastic views and wonderful birdsong. So if you're looking for a walk with variety then this is for you. Go do it!!!
