Porirua Union and Community Health Service is a not for profit low cost health service that is affordable and accessible to the Community it serves. 

PUCHS covers the wider Porirua area, up to and including Johnsonville and Paremata.

With a diverse and well qualified clinical staff we have been providing quality primary health care to the Community since 1990. 

We cover many aspects of health care, and with a combination of services offered, being affordable and accessible, Porirua Union and Community Health Service can help you achieve your best health outcomes for a full, happy and healthy life.

We can also do your Immigration Medical - contact our receptionist to ask about booking an appointment. Currently suspended due to the Omicron Outbreak 

We hold accreditation from the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners (Cornerstone), and the Quality Improvement Council (Te Wana). PUCHS is a member of Tu Ora Compass Health PHO.

Why is it so hard to try to make an appointment with these people? You dial the number, then they hang up. Because we live in a "low-income" area, does that mean we can be treated like 2nd class citizens?

Generally have to spend over half an hour waiting past your set time for an appointment you had to book at least 3 days in advance to get. To then feel like you're being rushed out the door ASAP

I have been a patient of PUCHS for 2 years. Today I had an interesting encounter, I picked up my script and on it had a note from my Dr saying to book in an appointment with the nurse for an annual check up, I asked the receptionist if I could book in the appointment then and she said "yep you can ring or book online" . I am right there what is preventing them from booking it while I am there. I just do not understand. I would have been happy to wait too but that option was not given. honestly we all have bad days but you are creating a barrier to my access to healthcare. Unprofessional and rude.

Original feed back wasn't great but needed updating since it was from 2 years ago had a really pleasant experience this time & the receptionists. I spoke to were both really lovely so it was a nice experience, really good to see some change.

This place is useless you can never get a appointment when you actually need one it always you have to wait a few days or as I was told today u have to wait a week I don't know how they are still operating

Rang to organise joining the medical center and was faced with immediate rudeness from receptionist and when told i have serious medical and depression issues the receptionist got even ruder, stating we are not taking anyone else. Was left feeling violated and depressed i had no chance at any help from this bad practice. And since all my calls on my phone are automatically recorded due to my disabilities, this call has now been put on youtube for all to hear.

My husband and I have been patients at Porirua Union and Community Health Services for around 8 years now. We can't fault their guidance and expertise through various medical issues(one of them was major) and are now in much better health than when we arrived here. The advice we've been given has been holistic, and it has worked well. We're very grateful to have such excellent medical advice. We love them all.

Had the worst call ever with the rudest receptionist! The call went like this: Me: Hi can I book a Doctors appointment? Receptionist: What was that for? Me: The flu Receptionist: That would be a no Receptionist: Whats your last name Me: *Eternity* Receptionist: ARE YOU EVEN A PATIENT HERE?!! (They sounded so aggressive!) Me: No, I was going to bring in the filled out enrolment forms Receptionist: That's a no, you'll have to go to Kenepuru or your own GP! There's no mention of where to make formal complaints on their official website.
