★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fettuccine con pollo is a staple of portofino, offering fresh fettuccine and chicken in a rich creamy sauce, 5/5 it's a must try.
The Costolette di agnello is a lamb cutlet dish, served with seasonal vegetables and a tomato based sauce. The sauce hits hard with tangy flavours and is definitely the star of the dish. In my opinion, the sauce works great with the seasonable vegetables but overpowered the flavour of the lamb cutlets - which were already a little overcooked. Overall a 4/5.
Service was top notch and staff were extremely friendly and polite, 5/5. Ambience was great, with mood lighting and comfy furniture, the booths are private and make it perfect for date nights, 5/5.

Food was quite bland, portions were very little. Meat and seafood were used sparingly.
We were told to keep our voices down, despite us:
1. Having made a prior booking
2. It’s a BYO - and weren’t being obnoxiously loud
3. Restaurant was fully empty besides us, and the table that had supposedly complained. Perhaps offer alternative options of seating?
There are better Italian places in Auckland, and far better restaurants in Parnell. Disappointing experience to say the least!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time trying a Portofino chain and found it to be quite enjoyable for a work leaving dinner. Portions were quite generously sized and the dishes were quite tasty overall. Just a bit hot sitting inside though and couldn’t really feel any air con on a warm summer evening.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst Italian food I have EVER had in my life. The spinach cannelloni was $30 and was literally 2 pieces of frozen balls of stringy spinach, don’t know what happened to the ricotta or the portion and quality of what you’d expect to get for $30, this was truly disgusting. The rest of the meals we had were decidedly average considering the price. None of them were finished and the staff didn’t even seem to care when taking them away. Left a really bad taste in our mouths (quite literally) and will never ever be coming back nor recommending this to anyone I speak to. Honestly makes me never want to eat Italian again, which is really saying something.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our family's been regular here for years now. Never been disappointed. Yes, there are too many italian restaurants around but, the lady running the place here knows our taste and makes sure that we always get what we like.
Personally, we love the freshness of food here. When you take that first bite, you immediately realise that the wait was worth the freshness.
You don't want something or want something more, no problem. No fuss. The team here really pays attention and best of all, remembers your preference for next time.
Yes, they will definitely not roll a red carpet out for you but, they will always endeavour to provide you your preferred seats and greet you as one of those.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have made a reservation for lunch with my family.Very poor service - have been waiting for the starters and kids menu dishes for over an hour! The restaurant wasn't full at the time. Definitely, I wouldn't come back here any more and will not recommend this place.
P.S.
In addition to a "great experience " I have been told, I believe, by the owner, that one hour waiting time for entree was not that bad! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a very special, wonderful birthday evening for my girlfriend and I can't recommend Portofino highly enough.
We were a party of 20 and every order was correct and every meal was perfect.
The service was wonderful and very attentive. The manager looked after every detail and nothing was a problem for us.
Overall a perfect birthday function that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We will be back!
